Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
The Renown has spring reverb but does not have stereo chorus or delay.
Well the Renown 112 model from the 90s has the same digital reverb functionality as the stereo chorus 212, just no chorus. (I know, I have one, and HAD a teal stripe stereo chorus 212).

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
OK, I just paid for this amp (Peavey Stereo Chorus 212) and I would like to use my old Bandit 112 with it too so I have some questions. The Bandit is 80W @ 8 Ohms while the Stereo Chorus is 130 @ 4 Ohms. What I would like to do is connect Stereo C.'s preamp out to Bandit's poweramp in, so that Stereo C. would power its own two speakers plus the Bandit's speaker. But I'm afraid to do this since Stereo C. is 4 Ohms and Bandit is 8 Ohms. Can I do this without damaging one or both amps? Thank you!

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
Daisy chain the two amps together via Effects Loop.
Amp #1 will serve as pre-amp. ( Cable out using send jack )
Amp #2 will be a slave. (Cable in using return jack )
Ohms difference will not matter using Daisy Chain hook-up.

Amp #1 would be Stereo Chorus and Amp #2 would be Bandit in my case.Classic30inCincy wrote:Daisy chain the two amps together via Effects Loop.

S.C. doesn't have send/return loop but it has the preamp out/poweramp in.
I think I don't need a daisy chain, but just one normal instrument cable which I will plug in S.C.'s preamp out and the other end into Bandit's poweramp in.
This way the Ohms difference doesn't matter... or it does?
I'm not sure if Ohms difference matters only when connecting directly to the speakers or in my upper case too.
Thank you!

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
Ohms refer to speakers.....
Connecting Pre-Amp #1 to run signal to Pre-Amp #2 stays clear of Ohms.
Both amps are powering and running their own speakers.

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
Thank you, this clears it up. Now I can try anything via power in/pre out.
Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
OK, I tried it and S.C. powering it's own two 12" Scorpions plus Bandit's Scorpion is POWER. Massive sound, both clean - and dirty.
Now I'm thinking how to make the 4 cable method work with my BOSS multieffects... I have a question: if I buy this kind of Y cable:
(one mono signal to two mono signals), does the signal (volume) gets lost? I mean, does that cable split the power in half or does it deliver the exact same amunt of power/volume that it has at the beginnig to both ends (as a normal instrument cable would deliver)? I'm sorry that I wrote this so confusing, I don't know how to put it...
The other thing: it seems that the one pedal on the footswitch malfunctions. All the LEDs are working, but if I press the Bypass/Clean pedal nothing happens (except for the LED). I read the S.C.'s manual and I'm doing it right, but nothing happens. Other three buttons are working fine. I don't know how to open up this footswithc since it has no screws?
Thank you for help in advance!

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
Is the channel button on the upper left side of the control panel depressed?
if not, the button on the footswitch won't do anything.

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
Yes, it is. I've read the manual and tried all possible combinations - the Bypass/Clean button doesn't work. I'd like to open up the footswitch to see what's wrong, but it has no screws, so I don't know if it can be opened without damaging it?
Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
A question for all of you who own a Stereo Chorus 212 (the 2nd edition with no send/return loop in the front): how do I connect my effects with the four cable method on this amp? I've tried doing it this way:
1. Guitar into FX input
2. FX send into Stereo Chorus input
3. Stereo Chorus preamp out into FX return
4. FX output into Stereo Chorus poweramp in
That didn't work. Has anyone of you tried to connect the FX via 4 cable method. Any ideas?

Edit:
I just tried the same thing (4 cable method connection) on my old Bandit and it works. I don't know why it doesn't with the S.C. too...

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
I managed to open up the footswitch but can't see what could be wrong...
Anyway, I have an important question (I don't want to damage my new amp):
Can I run my guitar into bandit's input and then bandit's preamp out into stereo chorus' input? Or would that damage it (since that way it would be tiwce pre-amplified)? And what if I also add the BOSS FX somewhere in between?
I apologise for writing so much posts, but I'm very excited about my new Peavey amp! =)

Re: Peavey Stereo Chorus 212
I do not have a bandit or a Boss FX to try this stuff & help you out. But I do remember that when I used to gig at times I would take my Fender Twin and the Peavey SC212. I would run my guitar into the SC212 and then out the preamp out of the SC212 into the Fender Twin instrument input. I never had an issue with the Twin doing this. The twin I had was the silver face with a channel volume and a master volume.
I think you could use the Bandit as the front end (Preamp Output) and then into the input (Instrument input) of the SC212. The only problem would be if the volumes aren't match good in the SC212 there won't be anything that you can do about it. That being said you would not damage the amp, it is just that hte sound may be breaking up in a way you don't want it to.
