My ONLY amp that I use for road work, studio work, and practicing at home is a 1974 Classic with Black Widows. Heavy as hell, no mods other than casters, tweed. She's been my main amp for the past 25 years or so.

I got my first Bandit in '85 and been using it as my main amp ever since. Since then I've added another mid 80's Bandit, a late 80's Rage (for the living room), a newer Envoy 110 and an Audition (for my guitar work bench).

edit: Added an 80s Backstage 110
My 1st Peavey was also a Backstage, bought about then (late '83 or early '84, I guess)...decent little gigging amp...stolen about '97!

Went to a Bandit next...

Today, I use a slightly modified red-line Envoy 110 (replaced the Blue Marvel original spkr. w/ a Celestion).

Apparently, we have the same excellent-yet-unhip tastes!

I miss my old VTM. I've been considering ditching the Windsor to get a VTM.

I'd keep the Windsor, as they are great amps in they're own right. I see VTM 60 & 120 heads pop-up often for sale around $200 range. You should be able to find a great deal for one in the near future.

Triple XXX 2x12 combo....all stock except last owner put in Groove tubes, and I removed the dumb looking "trailer girl" emblem.
The thing is friggin' HEAVY.....but loud and can do anything tone-wise. I have my gain at about 11 o'clock and it just rips, does metal easily, classic rock easily, clean stuff easily....
Just wish it came with a roadie......
assorted '89 Peavey Nitros (one heavily modded)
former Peavey products: HP Special CT trem, USA Limited, Axcelerator,
Triple XXX, 3120, various Bandits, VTM, Classics, Pro-Fex, Rockmaster pre-amp

i too was a solid state guy for many years, my first amp was a peavey bandit 112 ran through a dean markley 4x12. played many shows with it,then i bought a fender m80 rack head and a jackson 4x12 cab,and about 2yrs later my fender was stolen from a repair shop ,so they gave me a mesa boogie duel rec. in replace of my fender.i hated it .

tube amps left me with a fowl taste, till i tried the triple xxx, i was like hey a tube amp i like but couldnt afford at the time.then a really good deal on the peavey ultra plus and 4x12ms fell upon me.i didnt try it before i bought it,but i searched many reviews on it.and all reviews were pretty much (damn i wish i had never sold mine or this thing is crunchy)so i bought it and i love my ultra tube sound.

i still own a few different solid states that i will use for me and my other guitarist to use at partys,as i dont want my ultra stack to get ruined.my other guitarist also has an ultra full stack and i know he doesnt want to ruin his either.

i have a marshall avt 150h half stack hybrid,a crate flexwave 120 half stack and an ibanez tbx150h with b52 4x12cab....yeah overkill i know but i have a hard time parting with any of my gear.

did you add a red light to your jsx?
either way that looks killer, and i bet it sounds as killer as it looks.
unlike that really really cheap so called amp sitting under it........Lmao
j/k

i bet that sounds killer too,and i know it cost hella. engl amps are far to expensive for me ,but just curious how does that powerball sound compared to your jsx? is there really that much of a difference? ive never played either amp.

I've had my JSX since the first year they came out (05?). I run it through a 2x12 carvin legacy cabinet with celestion vintage 30s. I have a boss gt-6 in the loop for delay, reverb and sometimes chorus. I've loved this setup since I put it together a few years ago.
I've been a Peavey guy for years though. I used an 80s model Bandit from '99 to '01 for a classic rock, pop house band I played in. Fantastic little amp. I had an XXL head for a couple of years with an old peavey 4x12 cabinet for awhile. At the time, I wanted the XXX but couldn't quite afford it. I'm not a huge ss fan, but I love Peavey solid state amps.
And last year, when looking for something small to practice with at home and to do guitar lessons with I decided to go get a small digital modelling amp. I've always been a fan of line 6 pods (own a couple) so I tried one of their Spider 30s and then the Peavey Vypyer. The Vypyr blew me away. It's not that it sounded better than the Line 6, but I feel it has more sounds...and actually I do think it sounds a little better too. Shortly after, I joined a classic rock outfit that played in small clubs and I had to get the sanpera II pedal. Great little amp for that gig! Still have my JSX for my main band.
Yeah, I guess I'm a Peavey guy! lol
