Best Delay Pedals With the 6505+

Post by 5150clone » Tue Apr 26, 2011 5:17 pm

Thinking of going back to pedals with my 6505+ (currently running a G-Major 2)
What are some Delay friendly pedals for this head? Im looking at Boss-DD3's,
T.C Flashback. I know the effects loop can be tricky with certain pedals

Using a carbon copy with my tx and it works wonderfully!
Creativity is doing something weird and finding out others like it!

It should be noted that I am using the 6505+ 112 combo, but I'm using the TC Electronic Nova Repeater in the effects loop for my delays. I tried many different delays like the Flashback, Carbon Copy, DD-3, DD-7, RV-3, Hardwire Delay, Hofner Delay and some other stuff. Nova Delay is actually very good too, but too complicated. Nova Repeater is PERFECT!

I use the tap tempo to set the speed to the tempo of the song. I use the analog delay most with some chorus mixed in. Reverse delay is also nice.

I have the boss and think it's just "ok". Rarely use it, actually. Slight tone sucker but again it's not too bad just not remarkable and a little thin sounding. I've heard great things about tc stuff and I'm lovin my wampler distortion pedal...check out if they make a delay.

cool deal. what did you think about the T.C Flashback Tankman? i think they use a analog
circuit throughout. so your signal stays clean

Im using a 6505 212 so i understand its a bit different from the plus models. Im using a Carbon copy through the loop, it sounds OK. I think it actually sounded better through my old valveking. And whenever i click the pedal on it gives off a loud POP. Each time i click it, the POP is less noticeable until its gone after about 5 clicks. Just thought id let you know about that. Im getting some pretty good clean delays with this pedal; "Where the streets have no name", "Run Like Hell", and "Cathedral". For distortion i use it for allot of petrucci style stuff, Vai, and more Vai haha. Its actually a pretty versatile pedal and sounds pretty neat with the amp. Sounds a little bit compressed though, hope this helps! :)

love my flashback, kills every boss I've owned, the analog mode sounds as good as my carbon copy-- I highly recommend it. no tone or volume problems running in a efx loop. I bought and sold a nova delay in a week when they first came out-the flashback sounds better. zzzsounds matches coupon codes

Update. Tried 4 pedals today with my 6505+. Boss-DD3, Delta Lab, T.C Flashback, Nova Repeater.
The Boss was nice. No volume loss, pretty transparent. Delta Lab was my least favorite. colored the tone a little and was less transparent than the others. not enough delay time (too short at its max). Nova Repeater was very good. a little color and low end loss but not bad. nice options. The Flashback was the best hands down. This thing is awesome. No tone loss, No low end loss. Great. Transparent. I will be buying a few of them and selling my G-Major 2

i've heard good things about the Flashback, i have been using a Line 6 echo park with my 3120 and i finally got it dialed in..it took me a while to figure out out to get a simple echo ala EVH or YJM...

Sorry for the very very late answer. Been busy.

I AB'ed the Flashback with the Nova Repeater in the end, because I decided TC was best. The Tap Tempo on the Repeater was the main reason for buying it. Audio Tapping on the Flashback works, but I it's not practical for me. The Looper is glitchy and makes the pedal freeze sometimes.

Flashback does offer more different types of delay, but the Repeater really covers all you need with the option to add modulation in the form of Chorus or Vibrato to any delay. I'm currently using the Ananlog Delay with a bit of Chorus.

Flashback did sound amazing, but nothing new compared to the Repeater. With the Repeater its easier to get a good sound than with the Flashback. Hence my choice for the Repeater.

I'm using the Boss dd3 in the effects loop and love it.

T.C. Electronic Flashback all the way. In the FX loop of my 6505+, it sounds amazing on both the clean and dirty channels. I first had a Boss DD3 then an MXR Carbon Copy and they sounded great clean but like a bag of ass in the dirty channels.
