KB 300 - Channel Problem

Post by rick2703 » Mon Dec 22, 2014 6:49 am

My KB 300 (the old no-xlr version) has some problems:

1. After turning it on the COMP led is constantly ON and the amp produces a lot of hiss. After pulling the compressor chip the hiss is gone and the led is off. It seems to me that the compressor chip isn't working correctly. Is it possible to use the KB 300 without this chip?

2. While channels 2 and 3 seem to work fine the sound on channel 1 has much less low end than the others and the volume seems to be lower also. I swopped around some of the op amps but with no success. Does anybody know what the cause of this problem may be? Maybe a capacitor? I measured the voltages at the op amps. Everything seems to be OK (+/-15 V).

Any advices?

Problem solved - after testing a some components I replaced Capacitor C5. Now it works.
