Found a HP Special Flat Top at the pawnshop

Post by SirMilo » Sun Apr 03, 2011 12:26 am

Hello all.

What would be a fair price for a used USA made HP Special FT with a solid black top? The guitar has a few minor cosmetic issues since it has been used but is in great used condition and pretty clean.
Thinking about purchasing it so going back tomorrow for a thorough test drive.
Would really appreciate any ideas of a fair value for the guitar.
Thanks for any input.

Nevermind guys.

Went back to play it and it was gone.
I didn't really know what I was looking at when I saw it yesterday since I have a minimum of knowledge about Peavey guitars. After researching yesterday and finding it to be a US made model, I determined that it was a smoking deal for $250.... apparently, someone else realized this as well. I got there when they opened today so it obviously got sold within an hour after I saw it yesterday.
Oh well, I didn't really need another guitar anyway. Darn it!

Yikes......some of us.....ok, a lot of us....have ballpark prices in our heads for a number of guitars. Personally, I could identify a US Wolf special from 50 yards and prices seem to be kaotic at present.......some people demanding $900 and others asking $500 (both these prices from my local craigslist recently). At $250, it could have a lot of fixing needed and still be a great buy. Last Special I bought (in my avatar), I paid about $600 for used at a shop.
