Hi folks,
Just recently picked up a used Peavey Rockingham in Trans Purple. It's the B6 Bigsby model, and it also has a roller bridge fitted now. I love it, it plays brilliantly, sounds great, and really has the rockabilly look down to a tee. Dont think there's many of these in the US, maybe UK only?
Also, does anyone know how to decode the serial number on these to many indicate where and when they were made? I've looked online but there doesnt seem to be much info or advice on reading Eastern made Peavey serials at all.
Thoughts/opinions on the guitar welcome!
I'll upload some better quality pictures later!

Yeah, i'd came to that conclusion, it's a pity, when most other makes are pretty easy to decode.
All i've heard is the Korean model had a deeper body (73mm?) than the Chinese model (around 63mm?).
I think there's some variation in the colour of the trans purple models, unless it's simply down to lighting in the pictures, i find some are quite dark, whilst others are alot lighter, i guess this is to be expected though?
For example...
One which looks very dark...
And one which looks alot lighter...
My own seems to be somewhere in the middle of the road between these two.

I have a blonde one bought new about 8 weeks ago and there is:sinnerboy wrote:Thanks!studiodtk5 wrote:Guitar looks great....

- sticker saying 'made in china' on the back of headstock
- CE sticker and inspection sticker
- number inside BNJA0158
- body depth of 68mm
and here it is...
Hope this is of some help

^^The RIC is a fake.
But yeps, Rockingham is UK only. For whatever reason.

Re: Peavey Rockingham (Trans Purple)
Hey gang, I'm new to the forum, but I guess I should just jump right in, okay.
I just sold my Rockingham that I had for a number of years. I can't say enough about its performance. I used it with my band The Original Flares, and recorded with it on a number of occasions.
Mine was a proto type that I got from the Peavey Showroom at Soundcheck,Nashville,Tn. It was dark purple with no serial numbers.
For blues or rock a billy it worked fine, but the pup's just did'nt cut rock n roll,in my opinion. Peavey himself was'nt real fond of this guitar that was invisioned by one of his Euro guys. It is the exact copy of a Gretsch,(can't remember the number), right down to the binding. A Gretsch 6120 body with a 6119 neck.
Not sure how to post pic here or I post a few.
Good luck with yours, its a great instrument, regardless and well made.
BTW Pete,I've always wanted the blonde model, maybe one day.

Re: Peavey Rockingham (Trans Purple)
As well as being designed by Darren Higham, ( Eddie Cochrane afficionado I believe and husband to Imelda May) I believe they were made for Peavey by Peerless, who also made the same instrument for Gretsch.
Any more info will be gratefully received
The RIC is indeed a Tanglewood and is OK but a is cheapie and really for show - they look great IMHO.

Re: Peavey Rockingham (Trans Purple)
Its a G3131 by Gretsch that is the exact copy,(rockingham) or Peavey is the exact copy. Not sure which came first.
