I sure wish I had the money to get this one. I certainly need another red guitar in my herd.

The T27 has the same pickup configuration as a fat strat, HSS. Does it also have a coil tap for the humbucker? That guitar is up to $450 on ebay. My T26 natural is in just as good of shape and I am not ready to part with it for what it would sell for. Every time I play that thing I realize what a great axe it is.

Yeah, the coil tap for the humbucker is built in the rear tone control...1-7 is humbucker variance and 7-10 is single coil. As far as the auction, I have a fairly high reserve, won't go for a "cheap" price, just thought I would see what it would bring. I have several people here wanting it, but don't want to pay the price. I'm pretty sure it won't sell for the reserve I have on it. Like I said, it is the first Peavey I've ever owned, and impressed with it! I've always been a F__der player though, but you can never have too many, no matter what name is on the head stock!

I still have the price tag in my case for my T27, $324.50 with hard case. I bought it in the winter of 1982. The T27 has three single coil blade pickups and is just like a strat. The sound is very good. The T series guitars were real bargains. I don't think I ever saw a T series Peavey sell for more than $450. When you consider what a good strat goes for, it is hardly worth selling such a great guitar for what someone is willing to pay for it. Good luck with your auction but I bet you will own that guitar for a long time.

I stopped by The Band Stand in Jackson, Tn again today...where the guitar was originally purchased. It still has the small clear sticker on the back of the head stock that says "Cecil's Band Stand", which is what they were called 30 years ago. Several people in there were looking at it. One of the customers offered me $750 for it. I took his number and told him if I got in a "bind" I would let him know. He is a Peavey collector and said this is by far the most pristine T 27 he has ever seen. I was told by my buddy I was crazy for not taking it...if I was in a bind for money I probably would have. I can almost guarantee it won't sell on eBay for the "safe" reserve I put on it! I got VERY lucky with this find. It may just sit around and collect dust, but it's nice for "show and tell"!

I would value it the same as a custom shop strat. It is a unique piece of Americana and they ain't making no more of them.

I think you may have meant to type "T-26" -- like the photo caption reads -- not "T-27."

Does anyone know if there is a registry running on the t-27s for numbers of production colors?
I have 01553865 in metallic red.
Saw that mve4158 had 01553858.
