For the past couple of years I have been having issues with my D-tuna making my other strings go sharp when I pull the D-tuna out to the "D" position. After reading through multiple forums it seems the general consensus to fix most problems associated with a Floyd Rose bridge or the D-tuna is to make sure the bridge is FLUSH against the body. Everywhere I read it says the bridge must be PARALLEL and MAKE CONTACT with the body. This however is physically impossible with the Floyd Rose Bridge I have. I CAN make the bridge parallel to the body but I CAN NOT make it flush with the body.
After looking at a diagram of a Floyd Rose bridge and comparing to mine, it appears there is a "Tremolo Block Shim" located between the "Tremolo Block" and the "Fine Tuner Tension Plate". This block shim is keeping the bridge from making contact with the body and being "flush" against it.
Picture of the Floyd Rose bridge diagram can be found here: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/85 ... 4.jpg/sr=1
Here are some fixes I have attempted but did not fix the issue:
- I have tried tightening the bridge height screws to lower the bridge but only the front of the bridge lowers creating an angle like this: l\ instead of a parrallel angle like this: ll
- I have added more springs to the tremolo block and have tightened the claw spring tension screws and the back of the bridge still rest above the body
It appears the shim is resting on the edge of the wood where the bridge is placed in the body. Maybe about 1-2mm of the shim is resting on the body of the guitar. Should it recess into the guitar? If yes, could the wood have warped to smaller dimensions to prevent the shim from resting IN the body of the guitar as opposed to ON TOP of?
So the ultimate question is:
Is my Floyd Rose bridge set up properly to where it is floating above the body or should it be FLUSH against the body making contact? I would really appreciate any help or advice that could be offered. Thanks.

Looks like the mounting is set up to allow Up & Down action.
Flush with guitar body would be Down only.

That is what I was thinking, but the UP action on the bridge isn't even noticeable. And everywhere I have read, other Wolfgang Special owners have said their's was flush against the body. Does anyone have a Wolfgang Special with a Floyd Rose bridge that can look at their bridge and compare to mine? Possibly post pictures so I can see if my bridge is set correctly and see if there is a difference in height and angle?Classic30inCincy wrote:Looks like the mounting is set up to allow Up & Down action.
