Peavey XR800F

Post by vegito » Fri Oct 24, 2014 9:27 pm

Hello,

I have two questions about my Peavey XR800F Powered mixer.

My first question is can i use powered speakers with the onboard EQ.

I have tried connecting my powered speakers through master output and it works but not the EQ.
I have passive speakers 4x EV ZX1 the work great on the onboard power amp and EQ but i have also 2x EV ZLX 12P for bigger venue and i really want to use the onboard EQ together.

And second question is can i connect a external amp for more power and headroom and bypass the internal AMP.

Thank you.

Please help me.

I believe the 9-band equalizers are connected directly to their respective power amp inputs, which means that you can send signal to the equalizers from another mixer but the signal will only go to the built-in amps, which are only 210 watts each. So, you can go into the equalizers, but you can't go through them.
If you plug powered speakers into the XR800F, you should only plug them into the Master Output jacks, using a 1/4" guitar cable to send signal to the powered speakers. If you plug the powered speakers into the Speaker Output jacks, something will fry.
Yes, you can use the Master Output jacks to send signal to an external amp, which is essentially what you are doing when you use your powered speakers. Sounds like you need an external equalizer to run your EV ZLX 12P speakers.

Not sure what you are asking here. Typically, a DI box is used to connect a high impedance unbalanced source, such as a keyboard, guitar amp, etc., into a low impedance balanced mixer channel input with an XLR mic cable.

The description of that Behringer DI box reads, "lets you connect instruments or amplifier outputs of up to 3000 watts...". I can't imagine connecting the speaker outputs of a 3000 watt amp into a DI box. Someone else will have to weigh in on this one.

That's fascinating. Can you send pictures of each connection you made at each input and output? I might need something like that one day.

Sure i will make detailed connection pictures of the box and cables. i was a little bit sceptical so what i did instead connecting my EV powered speakers that coste more 400 euro's i hooked up a "low" budget speaker for testing. This behringer DI BOX is the best it has ground lift so humm noise gone what you get a clean sound.
