In the FX series manual ,item 54 says......
Left/Right Outputs
The Left/Right Outputs feature two 1⁄4” TRS Z-balanced jacks and two fully balanced XLR outputs. The
1⁄4” outputs can be used with Tip‚ Ring, Sleeve (TRS) balanced or Tip, Sleeve (TS) unbalanced connectors.
The output level is set by the Master Level faders (40). Both outputs can be used simultaneously.
Does this mean I could use both the XLR & TRS outputs simultaneously ie... all 4 outputs at the same time....??? If so, as the signal is divided, would this mean a weaker signal would be sent to the amps....???
4 outs could be very handy if I ever need to run a couple of front fill speakers....
Thanks...Brad

Re: Main outs FX series
Maybe. Don't know.
But I do know that if I were running some front fill speakers I would probably use the Left out for the main speakers and the Right out for the fills. That way I could easily control the volume of each from the mix position.

Ok, that makes sense....just looking at options on setting up my new gear....4 x QW2F over 4 x QW218 with VSX26. Amps are 1 x CS2000 & 3 x CS4080.... I have some 12" wharfdales & PV 900 amp I don't use that I thought may be usefull if I need front fills.
So I would set mixer on dual mono.....????
Left to a QF131 eq then into Channel A on the VSX26 using the QW2 - 218 preset....the matrix would direct input A to outputs 1 - 2 - 3 - 4......! & 4 for lows to the 2 x CS4080s, output 2 for mids to 1 x CS4080 & output 3 to CS2000 for highs. All amps in paralell output mode...I hope that is correct...???
If I run mono to FOH & I have stereo input from laptop or CD player I think I would have to use a stereo channel instead of media in. Need to make sure I get the full signal to all speakers.....So how would I do this...???....or perhaps I need to use 2 mono channels & send both to left & right...???
Any suggestions are most welcome....Thanks....Brad

Re: Main outs FX series
I don't have an FX in front of me right now, but I think in the output processing you can choose to run dual mono out. That would negate all the pan knobs with the exception of their subgroup functions.
Another advantage to running dual mono when using a second set of speakers for fill is that on the FX mixers you can set a delay to correct for the offset speaker placement.

Thanks Josjor...I had not considered delay for front fills, I also thought using the record outs could work....unbalanced....but if I run thru a QfF131 EQ...???Josjor wrote:I don't have an FX in front of me right now, but I think in the output processing you can choose to run dual mono out. Re: Main outs FX series
According to the FX Manual, The 1/4 inch & XLR outputs are powered by their own individual OP Amps, so your signal would not be divided or less than normal.
In Dual Mono mode the pan controls still operate normally. This mode does not combine the Left & Right outputs. You can create 2 separate mono mixes if you want that.
If you are feeding a stereo CD or Laptop into the stereo channels you will need to use a Y cable to combine the Left & Right together, then feed them into the L/Mono input on the FX stereo channel. If you don't do that you will get a different mix on the Left/Right outputs.

Re: Main outs FX series
Thanks Wooferhound, that's very clear, Just need to work out if there is any advantage going mono instead of stereo. If I don't use pans (other than to subgroups) the signal would be the same on left or right in stereo or mono.
So I can just run the left to the VSX26 'A' input, then to outputs 1-2-3-4, the right could then be used for front fills if required
