8600 or 8600D, which is best?

Post by FrankR » Thu Apr 21, 2011 12:30 pm

Other than the two jack per side output section on the back of the 8600D, what is the difference? Which is the more rugged mixer. I know I can run 4ohms with either one so that is not a factor.

Thanks,
Frank

Other than the output connectors, performance wise, the only difference is weight!

That weight differance is due to the 8600D being a digital amp along the lines of the IPR series. I have the 8600 and wish I had waited for the D. I would particulary like having two jacks per channel, not to mention easier on my back to load.

What were the years of manufacture for the 8600 prior to the D model? I can't find any info on the peavey support pages. Thanks.

The 8600 with the plastic case started in about 2006. The 8600D (same case but with IPR style power amp) became widely available late summer to fall of 2010.

Don't believe me. I'm just guessing.
