Hi to all,
Recently got one of these microphones. from the original owner in like new condition with the box, draw string case, and manual which is dated 1992. the box still had the original price tag from the music store at $79.99. nowhere on the box, manual or microphone does it say where the microphone was made. It sounds really good and seems to have a good build quality. I did find it listed in my old 1995 catalog. Does anyone know if these first generation PV series microphones where made in the US? $80.00 seems like a lot of money for an import back then. But the music store may have just ripped the guy off.
Any one have any ideals?
all the best!

Re: "PV" series microphone. from the early 1990s
If I remember correctly (I was selling them back then) they were imports and came with a 20' cable. That's a bit of the price excuse, but also remember that this was before the internet became the powerhouse that it is today. Dealers typically marked things at retail and then would make you a deal by discounting 20%. You also have to remember that this was before there were a gazillion imports with similar quality to choose from. It's a lot more competitive today.
That was back when it was a little easier to make a living in this biz. How I long for those days.

Thanks for the reply!
Do you remember if they were a fairly good quality microphone or similar to a lot of today's bargain basement microphones? (junk) It appears to have a fairly good response of 40HZ to15KHZ .When I tried it through our Peavey MP5 plus system it didn't sound to bad. I noticed that it didn't have a lot of bass proximity effect like many do which might be a good thing. I'm hoping to use it to mic our guitar players combo amp when we record.( off axis from the speaker cone). I'm on a real tight budget. I also have one of the old Peavey White mics from the 1980s which is a GREAT all purpose mic. Any opinions are really welcome!
Thanks in advance.
