Should I Get a 30 or 75?
Should I Get a 30 or 75?
I currently have a Tube 60 that I lug back and forth to my buddies (he's a drummer) every Saturday for practice. I'm thinking of leaving it there and getting either a 30 or 75 for home (where I also have a drumset) and just lugging the Sanpera each week. Looking for some input on what people think is the better deal - a 30 or 75?

If you just need a practice amp for home only, go with the 30, the 75 is way too loud, unless you can crank it up without anyone complaining, then go ahead get the 75. The 75 is a better amp though, but I can't turn mine up past 1 without the neighbours complaining.

I like the 30 (no USB though). The so-called 'power sponge' drove me nuts on the 75!

The vypyr 60 sounds awesome. At home you could get away with a used 15 for $45. A 75 isn't going to sound like the tube. You don't need to use your sampera when you are doing bedroom practicing. My 15 works fine for that IMO.

I just got a 30 head. Plenty for smaller gigs with a 112 cab and light and easy to move around. The 30 has all the goodies and plays low too. The 15 is just a practice amp or studio unit. Just not loud enuf to ever play with a drummer and band unless mic'd.

Doubling the wattage doesn't double the amount of sound you hear. There is a science but people get confused by the numbers.
Actually a 15w amp is only 1/2 as loud as a 150w amp in the way sound is precieved.
To double the sound you have to multiply the wattage by x10.
You can read about this by looking up the decibal on line.
