Hi
I'm trying to find the other 4 bass amps on my Vypyr VIP 3. All the blurb says there are 6 but I can only see 2, the Peavey and the Trace.
cheers!
Where are the other 4 bass amps? VIP 3
Re: Where are the other 4 bass amps? VIP 3
There are only two bass amps, each with three channels. (Green, Orange and Red) That is what Peavey calls six amps. Same with the rest, 12 x 3 = 36 amp models.N1v3n wrote:Hi

Hey N1v3n, I don't hear many reports from people who've used this thing as anything other than a guitar amp. How do you think it sounds as a bass amp? Have you used other bass amps before?

Hey guys I actually plugged my fretless (with passive pickups) into it last night not to shabby but not awesome either I liked the slap setting the most at least for this little trial
I'll try my 5 string w/active pups in this weekend and post the results later

hi wmjones, thanks for the reply but that is not possible. That is only 2 bass amp models and Peavey clearly state there are "6 bass amp models".wmjones wrote:There are only two bass amps, each with three channels. In the UK and US there are laws against false advertising, and the US is more litigious than the UK so I'm sure there would be legal action if Peavey are not delivering what they promise.
Possibly they may only be accessible with the Sanpera 2, like with all the extra patch spaces?

hi levander, i play guitar but am actually a bassist so have owned/used lots of bass amps.levander wrote:Hey N1v3n, I don't hear many reports from people who've used this thing as anything other than a guitar amp. How do you think it sounds as a bass amp? Have you used other bass amps before?
I like the 2 models, the Trace comes amazingly close to my old Trace combo. When I demoed it in the shop I put up the volume and was rattling the windows!
When I find the other 4 bass amps I'm hoping there is an Ampeg model

Trace green, trace orange, trace red, Peavey green, peavey orange and peavey red are each called amp models by peavey. I call them 2 amps with 3 channels each. I have a Sanpera 2 and there are no more amps models with it. It's not false advertising, it's just how peavey words things.

If there are only 2 amp models for bass this would have affected my decision to buy as I was expecting 6.
Perhaps someone from Peavey can reply?

There isn't exactly 6 bass amps, it is two, as you said with different channels, but they do sound very different if you scroll through them.
As for the sound as someone else asked, I find I can get a really good clean bass tone out of these models, it is a bit quieter then I expected it to be though. Not complaining at all but if you go from a bass to a guitar the volume is extremely different.
I think that is my only "complaint" about the amp, that the guitar is so loud with the master set to 3 or 4.

I've used my VIP1 as a bass amp for acoustic gigs and it sounds surprisingly good.
I had my doubts when I heard some groaning resonances from the VIP1 close up but these were inaudible some eight to ten feet away. And I was surprised at how much bottom the little 8" speaker puts out. With the VIP1 I can practice bass without shaking the house.
