75 watt with high pitch noise fixed

Post by j_fury68 » Tue Sep 09, 2014 4:27 am

Thought I would share a recent encounter with a 75 watt vypyr that was making a high pitch noise associated with volume increase. With amp on and no guitar (light show only) the sound was present and got louder as volume was turned up. With guitar in and on any setting the sound was also present and affected by volume increase. I did the headphone jack check to help determine if the problem was power amp board related or dsp related and the amp never went into the power amp mute to direct signal to the headphones. So the problem was in the headphone portion of the headphone jack and usb board. The ribbon cable for the headphones (that was glued in very well) wasn't seated in the socket completely. Pushed it in and noise went away. let go and noise came back. Simple as pie! Removed old glue, Re-seat the connector and done :D
