Any way to find out if my Vypyr 75 is still under warranty?

Post by Proud Marine Dad » Sun Nov 16, 2014 4:47 pm

It's been acting buggy for quite some time and I assume the warranty is probably up.
Not sure what it would cost to fix.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

No, I bought it used from a guy on Craigslist.
Does that void the warranty transferring ownership?

Figures. Might as well sell it and get something that's more reliable.
That's a shame as I loved this amp while it lasted.
Seems many people have had troubles with this amp. That's too bad.

Not sure this will help, but i'd try:
(from owners manual)

Restore Factory Default Settings
To restore your amplifier to factory default settings (This process will ERASE ANY PRESETS
YOU MAY HAVE STORED) turn the amplifier off, press and hold preset buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously
and turn the amp back on. After a moment the LEDs will return indicating the amplifier has been reset.

Thanks Rogue. I have done that but it still turns off all volume when you press the Sanpera II pedal to change settings.

I am guessing you got that amp used about 4 years ago, sometime before your first posting. That amp is at least 5 years old, so I would start doing the do it yourself thing. take it out of the enclosure and check all the cables and connections. just because the hot glue is intact does not mean the connections are good. check anything you feel comfortable with before scraping or salvage for parts. If you really like the amp, get it repaired.
My vypyt75 is 5 years old and still sounds like new.

That is correct wmjones. Thanks for the input.
I may take it to a shop if I can't find anything wrong.

Just found out the wall plug is not grounded.
Wonder if that could cause any problems?

An ungrounded outlet is something most people tend to overlook these days and I believe it a violation of wiring codes. It can cause other problems as well such as fires and electric shocks when using these outlets. I would get this taken care of as soon as possible.
