VI-2 sensitive to pre-amped piezo input ?

Post by erky32 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 12:30 pm

I have a unique query, maybe somebody has the same situation & can help.
I bought my Vypyr VIP2 as a perfect stablemate for my Godin A6 Ultra , a hybrid guitar.
The amp works fine with Humbucker drive, regardless of models/effects/settings, but when I run the Godin in acoustic mode, ie its a piezo with onboard EQ etc, it works fine if the guitar battery is perfectly healthy. But as soon as the battery drops below 9volts it starts clipping on the transients. This doesnt happen when I run the guitar into my H&K 18C , or ZT acoustic, or TA50.
Does anybody know why this should be so sensitive to this particular input?

I have never had a guitar with a piezo pickup , but you could try using a electric bank instead of the acoustic bank. (may-be you already have) Just a thought.

Yes thanks for your thoughts @wmjones, but yes I've tried that it does the same on all ABCD channels, whether I select acoustic amp (Trace) or Elec amp (Twin).
