Problem recording Vypyr 75
Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
Well I just e-mailed the store from where I bought the amp and they say it is fixable. As in there's nothing wrong with the amps, but rather you gotta somehow configure your computer for recording through USB. I'll be calling them today and I'll let you guys know if it works out.

So we tried a few things to no avail. I'll be bringing my computer and vypyr down to figure out the problem. Wish me luck haha.

I think I already know the outcome.....
Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
Hey it's worth a try. I really want to believe Peavey wouldn't release an amp with a "studio quality" USB just for marketing. That's just plain retarded. If they knew it was this bad I don't think they'd release the thing. So my guess is there's just some setting or another in our OS's that we're just overlooking. Guys at the music shop are saying the same. Anyways, if I figure this out you guys all owe me a beer haha.

I'll put up a sample when i get home from school.
Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
Sorry, won't be able to do it until the weekend, damn finals.
Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
Well I figured out what the problem is. The actual USB outputs on the Vypyrs is the problem. I guess there's a big batch of them...they had only one 75w one at the store with a good USB output. If any of you guys got warranty or w/e you should try to exchange it for a good one if you want to use the USB output anyways.

Any moderator comments on this problem?

Yes Roger....please comment on this. Thank you. My USB is rather decorative at the moment.
Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
The Vypyr does not support ASIO, which is another issue altogether. It just appears as a mono mic audio device in Windows, and uses the generic device drivers already included with Windows. You will note there is no driver from Peavey for the Vyper for this reason.JoeMama wrote:This may be related to the ASIO driver, and the core audio engine that you have selected with your audio programs. Try looking under the hood of those settings. Make sure that your audio program even supports ASIO drivers, which I believe that the Vypyr is recognized as. I could be wrong. But it wouldn't seem to make sense that the jack itself would vary amp to amp.

Also check for conflicts in control panel-sound and audio-volume-advanced-
brings up master volume window. From that window- options-properties- see what's listed as mixer device in pull down menu. Under recording, tick off all options so you can see the microphone level if it isn't already displayed and any other input options such as line in. Now you can view the microphone and other recording input sliders and make sure they're all the way to the bottom minimal settings, to avoid any possible conflict there, listed in the recording control window. This is for winxp users.
I haven't had time to mess with this yet but I am a computer nerd and that's where I will be starting my troubleshooting if I encounter any problems.
If the usb cable is working properly with other usb devices and not vypyr, it isn't a cable related issue. There isn't a better cable that would fix it, ie. geek squad- Save your money.

Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
Standard USB to printer cable isn't it? Technically an A to B cable I think
Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
It's just the standard USB cable for printers like Ian said. Brand doesn't matter, they're all the same. Just ask for a printer USB cable.dillon wrote:i got a 75 watt aswell i wanna try recording so what cable exactly would i need i.e brand, type of connection, cause i cant seem to find a cable that fits in the amps connection. it looks like some weird usb connection

Re: Problem recording Vypyr 75
Btw guys, apparently there's a huge batch of Vypyr 75's with bad midi AND usb outputs...I just had my second 75 die a couple weeks ago when I tried using my Sanpera pedal. If you're having any kind of problems like this seriously bring em in to get them fixed or exchanged or w/e. Unless you don't use the USB out or Sanpera pedals.
PS: I got to borrow the stores 120w tube Vypyr while they figure the problem out, and MAN this thing is saweeet!! So loud, and it sounds a bit fuller than the smaller SS ones. Once my store figures out the problem with the peavey reps i'll be bringing it back tho...but I'll let you guys know what I find out anyways.
