VSX26 and mixer

Post by mrmagoo » Tue Oct 18, 2011 10:35 pm

I am in the process of getting 2-sp2's and 2 sp218's with the cs 1400, 4000 and 4080 to drive them. Also getting a VSX26. I was reading one of Marty's posts that said the VSX must be driven with balanced inputs and outputs. I current use a Peavey 902 production mixer, it does not have balanced outputs. Do I have to or need to get a new mixer? I have a Kosmos that I could use before the VSX and would that allow me to continue to use my 902? Thanks

Yes....you must only use balanced inputs & outputs with the VSX26,
But the good news is the Kosmos will accept unbalanced inputs...the Kosmos outputs will then send a balanced signal to the VSX26.
Make sure any cable with a 1/4" jack is balanced...TRS only...not TS ......XLR is balanced...

Thanks Brad, that is what I thought would work. I still like my 902 mixer, but would get a new one if needed.
