Peavey 6534+ discontinued already??
Hi!
So either I'm blind or the Peavey 6534+ isn't listed on peavey.com anymore. Does that mean it's been discontinued already?
I absolutely dig the gritty high-gain sound of the 6505+, but always found its clean tone to be a little lacking, so I thought about getting the 6534+.
I hope it'll still be available when I'm done saving up the cash.
Regards
Ace.
EDIT: I can find it via clicking on the "related items" link of the 6505's details page. However, it's not featured on the 6505 series main page. Which is weird.

Re: Peavey 6534+ discontinued already??
This amp is perplexing to me. The 6505 is very popular. Any music store that carries PV all over the country has a 6505 in stock. Since the 6534 came out....I've been to Des Moines, Sacramento, San Antoino, Raleigh, Lynchburg, Cleveland, Portage, and of course Columbus. Not once have I seen a 6534. Are they so good, that they are snatched up by employees before they even hit the shelves? I've hit major chains and mom and pop stores alike. Bupkis. Nothing. Ever.
My local GC has never had one in stock according to the manager of the guitar section.
If memory serves, the 2 or 3 people that have bought and posted about them on here, have bought them online. If that is Peavey's market strategy...it keeps buyers like me away. I believe that it is priced very well and I am interested in one, however I'm not the type to buy something new without trying it first. IF it's not for you....you lose to much just walking out the door. This is a company sponsored forum, unlike others I belong to. I would really like to here a company response to this.

I think it is part of the poor marketing campaign and naming. The name doesn't have enough distinction to gain much differentiation from the 6505+ for example. At first glance one assumes that is what it is. Or even a typo.

I also have yet to see one in any of the 3 local GCs. I'd like to check one out in person just for kicks. Honestly, I wish they would just have made the 6505+ able to accept 34s or 6L6 like the XXX and I think the JSX. Bugera did it......

Even if the product page is just going through an update right now (or "downgrade"...?), isn't it suspicious that out of all the amps Peavey makes the webmaster accidentally (?) forgot to include the 6534+ while revamping the website?

As you become familiar with the website you will notice items disappear and re-appear.
Example: Delta Blues 210 combo
Info was missing and now back.
Perhaps Marketing / Sales Department should proof read website in conjunction with work in progress.

Yeah, but it just doesn't make much sense at all. When a product is not featured on a website anymore, people assume it's been discontinued.Classic30inCincy wrote:As you become familiar with the website you will notice items disappear and re-appear.

And, in the case that you just want to edit / improve / relaunch a specific product page you don't remove the old one until the newer is finished.

Agree.......
Sales Department should work hand in hand with website to ensure all products are displayed.

I worked at GC for a couple years. We NEVER had a Delta Blues or Classic 50 and only 1 C-30 in all that time. Only 1 Vypyr Tube 60 ever came in the warehouse, which I own. I could have easily sold 1 or 2 a week. We never saw a Tube 120 head or combo. Peavey distribution is "unique". They dont seem to market and stock a lot of their better amps consistently, even with the largest retailers. Some of their amps can only be had on line in many areas of the country.
They always seem to dance to the beat of their own drummer, Hartley, I suppose. Peavey Marketing was something of a mystery to me and my fellow salespeople. The amps I love.

Re: Peavey 6534+ discontinued already??
In Germany we got the "Music Store", Europe's biggest musical equipment store. But, in the valve head test room all they got is the 6505+. No 6534+, no 3120, no JSX. I've been asking about those several times already, but the usual answer is "we don't sell them / we don't have them yet".
I mean, I know I like the 6505+ enough that I'll most likely dig the 6534+, too... But we're speaking 1.569 Euros here. I should at least be able to test it SOMEWHERE before I buy it.

Your local music retailer can order and stock any item they desire.
It's not up to Peavey what or how many are in the retailers inventory.
My local Peavey Dealer picks and chooses items he stocks.
Amps he orders belong to his store.
Not up to Peavey to ship amps without purchase order.

@Classic30inCincy:
Yes, I know it's up to the retailer to stock items.
But don't you think it's kinda sad when Europe's biggest music store barely has any Peavey amps?
Seems the interest/demand for the 6534+ / 3120 just isn't there in Germany.

It is on the website:
http://www.peavey.com/products/instampl ... usHead.cfm
It is the super special hidden place with no link to it.
Actually I found it as a link on the related items page of the 6505.

Yeah, like I said, I found it via the "related items" link, too. They should fix this soon to prevent further confusion...studiodtk5 wrote:It is on the website:

Re: Peavey 6534+ discontinued already??
In The USA.....
Small full-line Peavey Dealers stock larger cross section of Peavey Products versus the large volume Box Stores.
The small "Mom & Pop's" helped Hartley Peavey and he returned great loyalty to Independent Music Dealers.
Large Box Stores asked for Peavey Products and were turned away as a gesture showing loyalty to the small Independents.
Perhaps Europe same way......
Try widening Dealer Search to find a German Retailer with amps in stock.
