Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
Anyone using a Vypyr 30 Mini Stack? I have a Vypyr 15 and the 30 Mini Stack just seems to be more what I am looking for. Doesn't really seem to be much information about this setup.

Re: Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
More speakers is always better. When I added another 1x12 (sheffield 1230) to my bandit the tone got much better. There is a reason 4x12's and two 4x12's (full stack) are popular. I added an extension jack (and fan) to my vypyr 30 and use my Bandits 112sx cab with it and it sounds better, although I think it would sound even better if I had a matching blue marvel for it.
I haven't seen the 30 watt head schematic, but would think the only change would be a larger heat sink and maybe a change or addition in the output stability feed back circuit for 4Ω and 8Ω speaker configurations.

My name is WT, and I approve this opinion.
Re: Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
Thanks for the response. I actually forgotten I had posted this. lol I have really been torn on this purchase.. On a single cab the head output would only be 15watts? With two cabs each being 16ohm I am assuming they are hooked up in parallel creating a 8ohm load on the head providing the 30watt output. I ask because at home I would use both cabs, but for example if I was going to do a little practicing at a friends house and decided on only carrying one cab, would the head then only be outputting 15watts to the single cab? I am really considering the stack along with the Sanpera II pedal.
Re: Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
I just bought a 30 head and spent a few days experimenting with speaker options. It can easily drive 2 16 ohm 112 cabs, equalling the required 8 ohm load. I run a single 112 with an 8 ohm Jensen in it and the thing rocks. I will probably be forced to build a custom cab for the head after I fall in love with it. I'm in deep like after less than 2 weeks. It makes a great gig back-up for my tube 60, and with the light 112 is easier to take to the jams than the 60.
I hooked up a 212 with Governor and Hellatone, 112 with blue marvel, 112 with greenback. Ended up with the 112 jensen, just sounded best overall with the amp modeling.
The 30 head is a LOUD little sucker and sounds great. Go for it. The 15 is awesome, but not loud enuf to gig with and offers only half the effects. Vypyr mini satck will rock for sure.

I just got the 30 head. I wanted an amp for lower volumes when I play late at night and didn't want a combo. I'm running it through my Mesa Rectifier 4X12 cab with Vintage 30's. It pushes that cab no problem and sounds surprisingly kick ass!

awsome! i wondered if it would push a 4x12 cab, have you got a chance to crank it up to a high volume to see how it sounds?plon wrote:I just got the 30 head. I just made the leap and bought the complete stack (30watt head and 2 cabinets) for $380.00 +free shipping from The Guitar Factory. Now I just have to find a good deal on a Sanpera II pedal.
Anyone that already has the head mind posting a picture of the back?

Yes I have, and it sounds great at high volumes. Once again, I'm quite surprised at how good this amp sounds. I'm going to get a 2X12 cab with some WGS Retro 30's for my computer room next.

Maybe consider one WGS "Reaper HP" (50 watt) in 212 cabinet with "Retro" (75 watt).

My Mini Stack is suppose to be arriving this Wednesday. Man I hate waiting...
Re: Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
Using Vypyr 30 head with a Peavey Valveking 4x12. It's taking some tweaking with some patches just not doing it for me at all. A little too mid-rangy in most cases. Thought about swapping the speakers out for other types, possibly just the one I mic since I'm able to go through a nice PA.
Still want to tweak more, but hope to hear more about others experiences with external cabs.

UPS just attempted to deliver my Vypyr 30 Mini Stack at my house but of course I'm at work. They scheduled for a re-attempt tomorrow at which of course I'll be at work. lol I called and can pick it up from the terminal tonight between 7-7:30pm.

I will post more pictures tomorrow. Going from a single 8" to two 12" is ridiculous!

Re: Vypyr 30 Mini Stack
I did finally hook my 75 up to my old scorpions in my renown a while back and was highly impressed I think i coulda got by with the 30watt head and used them. using the stock single 12 I have to use the octave tip we got awhile back, using the 2 scorpions its not needed at all. someday i'll update the firmware and try the global effects and see how the darker setting works maybe.dalrymple wrote:I just bought a 30 head and spent a few days experimenting with speaker options. so yes 2 -12s IMO make a big differance.
