decoding an amplifier serial number
i picked up a used Bandit 112 Transtube today at the local Guitar Center and it looks nothing like the models being sold today. is there a site where i can decode the serial number? the number is
10655043.
by the way...........this thing sounds amazing. best sounding solid state amplifier i've ever owned. i even like it more than my Tech21. it isnt quite so flexible as the Tech21 but it has a fantastic clean tone, a good thing since 95% of the time i play it clean.

Don't have amp database sadly. But, can post a picture and we'll be able to give you a year range.

black grille cloth, big Peavey badge top/center of the speaker grille, it appears to be silver painted plastic and it's the old style logo. there is a brushed aluminum strip around 1/2-3/4" wide and has the functions for the knobs underneath each knob3 pairs of round grey push buttons from left to right their functions are : first pair (upper) bright (lower) channel. second pair (upper) thrash (lower) gain 3rd pair (upper) EFX level (lower) resonance and according to the badging is was made in the USA with an Sheffield 1230 speaker.

Re: decoding an amplifier serial number
I like it even more than i do my Crate V18 class a tube amplifier. this Bandit 112 LOOKS like it just came out of the box and it's loud enough to strip all the hair off a dog and small children

Re: decoding an amplifier serial number
If your trying to "decode" the date....by opening (you may have to remove the chasis from the cabinet) it up you will most likely find hand written dates inside. Only piece of Peavey gear I've owned that didn't have this was a 5150 cab. Ironically i own two and one did have a hand written date inside.
Peavey Amps: VTM 120, VTM 60 EL34 moddified, BRAVO Peavey Cabs: (2) 5150 Straight
Re: decoding an amplifier serial number
Hi
My first post and it's a question already... some people eh?!?
Could you advise on the date of the following 5150 serial number?, which is 50976590
Thanks
JR.

Re: decoding an amplifier serial number
Call customer service, they MAY be able to help. otherwise if you have to know the age, I;d look on the speakers inside for date codes.
Re: decoding an amplifier serial number
The Silver Stripe Bandit is the 1st Peavey and the 1st new amp I owned. I was in the showroom and someone was in the guitar room playing some blues on it. I went in and asked if it was a tube amp. Everyone laughed and said "look in the back" Thirty minutes latter I was carrying it out the door with a down payment and a 90 day pay off. Still have it and play with it 2 or 3 times a week. I use the clean channel mostly.
The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

My Classic Chorus 212 serial number: 0A-04404543, under the right writes: 90A. When produced, year?
