Hi guys, im being offered of such model. Any comment about this semi-hollow guitar? thanks a lot
Re: Peavey JF1EX semi-hollow guitars
Not a bad guitar. New street price is under $400. They are manufactured in Korea. They are kinda heavy for a semi-hollow. The pickups are a real find! Play one through a Classic 50 sometime. Great sounding guitar for the money. Great sounding guitar, period.
Like most guitars in this price range, and most Epis for twice the price, you'll need to smooth out the fret ends.

thanks man
Re: Peavey JF1EX semi-hollow guitars
I own one.
Its great for the price.
Luthier looked at it and said if it was an epi it would sell for double that or more.
He was impressed for the price.
Get the sunburst, its the most eye popping color out of the choices peavey gives you.
The neck isn't bulky. Play it and see for yourself.
EDIT: oh and get the case with it. Its a soft case but its hard like a hardshell so the case won't bend. (if that makes sense) a soft hardshell. lol

Re: Peavey JF1EX semi-hollow guitars
hi riffarama, i buoght a jf1ex at a pawn for 265 w/case and it was hardly used.
i wanted an es335-type to play blues and to switch off with my les paul custom.
i was expecting some drop-off in tone/clartity and overall quality and I had to make some initial mechanical adjustments that took less than 20 minutes.
that was NOT the case. the jf1ex performs very well and im actually getting that great gibson sound and sustain from these pickups. the average person couldnt tell the differenc in sound of these guitars and i didnt change any of my setting on my marshall stack. thanks alot.
i got exactly what i needed, tone, bass, good looks and howling sustain. I got gold plating and a sunburst tobacco finish with a thru neck design and 2 p/u. My Lespaul custon has 3 paf p/u
Will this guitar last 25 years in my hands like the Les Paul? im skeptical still but so far i have been really impressed with this thing.
I have used tons of peavy PA gear over the years and I am ruff with stuff and it always gave me that middle of the road but solid worry free performance at a cheap price.
265$ for a practically new semi-hollow body is so cheep its silly.
I haven't done any recording with the jf1 yet but live playing is great. I will deploy this guitar on my next demo and put my lesPaul on active reserve for a bit.
I would give it a 7 out of 10 stars and Peavy a little love (Mississippi's Music Manufacturer)
Are these copies of Gibson PAF pickups and associated electronic wiring and brass tailpiece?? Coz im having a hard time telling the difference from my Lespaul setup. They look almost alike!

I think its a good guitar, the bridge puckup was a little light for me so swapped it out.
