Nashville 1000

Post by mistert63 » Fri Jan 04, 2013 2:44 pm

Hey Folks,
This amp was being used on a gig by the steel guitar player. All of a sudden the power transformer fell from it's welded plate mount on the chassis underside.
I have opened it up and the 6A fuse was blown but all wire connections were still secure.
Replaced the 6A fuse and with just plugging in the A/C cord it blew...didn't even turn the switch on.
I have checked all connections, diodes...no problems.
Anyone ever have this type of problem?
Thanks folks!

The connections to the circuit board for the transformer may be intact, but that doesn;t mean they were not yanked out of place inside the transformer. If just plugging into the wall blows the fuse, either the transformer is shorted, or you have unseen wiring problems. For example the insulation on the wires might have been cut through and they are now touching the chassis edge or some such.

I do not expect those weld plates to fail like that, unless the amp took SERIOUS abuse. You might contact customer service at the factory and discuss this. They MIGHT be able to do something for you.

Let us keep the discussion here in the forum.

If yoou want to test the transformer, then unplg the wires from the circuit board - probably three red wires and three orange wires if memory serves me. and power up the transformer that way - blows fuses still or not. And you ought to be able to inspect for external wire damage.
