Zac Brown Band Wins GRAMMY for Best New Artist

February 2, 2010

After an eventful year on the charts, on the road and at the 52nd GRAMMY Awards on January 31—where they picked up Best New Artist honors—the Zac Brown Band has proven that "overnight success" can be years in the making.

New fans drawn by the irresistible hit singles, the awe-inspiring musicianship and dynamic live shows might have thought the Zac Brown Band emerged from nowhere. In fact, the band has paid its dues for years and put in its time for just this moment.

"There's no way to predict how fast everything is going to come together," said Brown. "Or that it took 13 years to get to the beginning of it."

No question, the past year has been dizzying for the hardworking act. After debuting at #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #3 on the Top Country Albums Chart, the Zac Brown Band's debut album, The Foundation, has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

The first single, "Chicken Fried," peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Chart, maintaining that position for two weeks, and also debuted as the second-most downloaded country single on iTunes. "Whatever It Is" and "Toes" both reached # 1. And with a fourth single, "Highway 20 Ride," climbing the charts, Brown says he's finally achieved what had been more than a decade in the making.

"We want to especially thank all of our fans and country radio for their ongoing support," said Brown. "This past year really was a milestone for us in so many ways and we're honored to have won this award."

Now, fueled by a GRAMMY award, "Top New Vocal Group" honors from the Academy of Country Music Awards and the "Breakthrough Video of the Year" award from CMT and USA Weekend, the Zac Brown Band is preparing to move front-and-center in 2010.

Frontman Zac Brown and fiddle player Jimmy De Martini use Trace Acoustic TA™ Series acoustic instrument amplifiers, and bassist John Hopkins uses Peavey Tour™ 700 bass amplifiers and Peavey VB™ 810 bass enclosures.
