Once again Peavey Electronics revolutionizes the modeling amp industry. Introducing the world's first Variable Instrument Performance amplifier, the VYPYR® V.I.P. The world's first amp that contains Bass guitar, Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar amplifier models. Now for the first time ever using our Variable Instrument Input a single amp can provide amplification for a variety of instrument types.
Not only does the amplifier morph from a bass amp, to an acoustic amp, to an electric amp, it also allows the electric guitar player access to instrument models as well -- another Peavey first! The Vypyr VIP's astonishingly realistic instrument simulations allow users to manipulate the sound of their electric guitar to mimic an acoustic guitar, a bass, a 12-string guitar, and more!
Using the combination of a powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC® processor and patented TransTube® analog circuitry, the Vypyr VIP series contains innovative technology to create the most diverse and best sounding modeling amplifiers available. The Vypyr VIPs feature new acoustically ported semi-closed back enclosures, which create an extremely full sound. Guitarists also have access to over 70 amp, instrument, stompbox models and rack style effects, allowing for endless creative options and a completely new range of tonal possibilities.
In order to easily view all parameters at a glance, the Vypyr VIP series includes Peavey's WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface. The WYSIWYG interface allows the user to be able to identify the proper position of the encoders from preset to preset. In addition, one control can be used for multiple functions.
VYPYR's new USB bi-directional data and audio port provides an easy way to record and/or connect to our VYPYR EDIT software and store presets, get lessons, and practice to backing tracks while connected to your computer.
The Vypyr VIP series leverages the patented Peavey TransTube® technology to deliver the most astonishing amp tone in the modeling amp world. The TransTube technology emulates the sound and feel of tube amplifiers through a special design that took three U.S. Patents to cover.
The TransTube preamp tailors the gain level for the desired amount of drive and the power amp responds with natural compression that increases with the amp's volume. The result is a line of amplifiers with widely ranging dynamics and natural "grit," just like a real tube amp.

In an effort to constantly improve our products and designs we have created the VYPYR Updater. The VYPYR Updater is an application designed to upload firmware updates to your VYPYR. In order to upload the sysex information to your VYPYR you will need a USB to MIDI converter capable of transferring system exclusive information.
While we have made every effort to ensure the Updater is compatible with most USB to MIDI devices we have verified its functionality with the following products:
- M-Audio USB Uno
- Edirol UM-1SX
- Turtle Beach MIDI USB cable
Here is what you need to do.
- Create a VYPYR folder on your desktop.
- Download the file vypyrUpdater2_61.zip and PeaveyVypyr1_59.syx to the same folder.
- Connect your MIDI device and install the appropriate drivers if necessary.
- Make sure your MIDI cable is connected to the Remote Switch jack on your VYPYR, AND the correct port on your MIDI to USB device.
(Note: On some units the correct output jack on the MIDI to USB device may be labeled IN, try both if it doesn't work!)
- Open the VYPYR Updater program and follow the instructions.
- The STARTUP HELP wizard (will open automatically on startup) uploads some files automatically so it is important to use the STARTUP HELP wizard and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Use OPEN FIRMWARE and UPLOAD code from the top menu only after the initial code update.
The Sanpera I™ includes an expression pedal for executing volume, wah and pitch shifter functions, plus four momentary feature selector buttons. Both the Sanpera I and II are housed in roadworthy and rugged cast-metal casings and feature high-quality metal switches.
The Sanpera™ II allows the user to remotely control virtually any feature of the VYPYR Series modeling amplifiers, and increases the preset storage from 12 in-amp presets to an astounding 400 programmable presets. This controller features dual, assignable expression pedals with tap switches, dedicated tap tempo and looper control, as well as footswitches for accessing presets, preamp "stompbox" effects, post-amp "rack" effects, delay and reverb.
