Camp Jam Sets Off Spring Tour with Peavey

Camp Jam, America's most comprehensive rock 'n' roll summer day camp for ages 11 to 17, is getting a head start in 2006. The Peavey-powered experience has launched the Camp Jam Rock 'n' Roll Spring Tour to give young musicians a backstage look at the one-of-a-kind camp coming to their city this summer. In each city along the tour, Camp Jam is hosting a live music event featuring the Camp Jam Tour Van, a mini-concert setup with Peavey backline, instruments and sound system, a backstage area, video presentation, Q&A session and a citywide 'Rock Solo Contest' for ages 11 to 17, with winners receiving a free week at Camp Jam this summer. Camp Jam is also giving away music-related prizes, including Peavey gear, to the first 50 people, ages 11 to 17, who show up at the scheduled location.'We literally can't wait to get started this summer, so we're kicking things off with a tour designed to be fun and interactive as well as a way to recognize each city's most talented young rock soloists on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals,' said Camp Jam co-founder Jeff Carlisi, who was the lead guitarist, songwriter and co-founder of the platinum-selling rock act 38 Special.'Peavey is all I've played for 25 years, and having equipment we can rely on just enhances the experience for all the campers,' added Carlisi. 'Our objective is to give them a great experience, and Peavey equipment certainly helps make that happen.'First launched in Atlanta in 2004, the camp with full Peavey support and the mantra 'No Canoes, Lots of Rock' is rocking and rolling into a total of 10 cities in 2006—Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Orlando, Fla.Upcoming dates and locations for the Spring Tour include April 1 at Wherehouse Music in Houston; April 2 at Tower Records in Dallas; April 4 at Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis; April 8 at Tower Records in Chicago; April 9 at the Rock & Rock Hall of Fame in Cleveland; and April 11 in Detroit (venue TBA).Camp Jam is the new camp alternative for young musicians, vocalists and bands eager to get out of their garages during the summer break, hone their rock 'n' roll chops and form a band with their peers, all while getting an insider's access to the music business from the people who live it everyday: professional musicians, songwriters, A&R reps and industry veterans.
