Peavey Vypyr 75 Modeling Amp Wins Guitar World Gold Award
PEAVEY INT'L. HEADQUARTERS — The editors of Guitar World magazine have honored the Peavey VYPYR 75 modeling guitar amplifier with its Gold Award for Overall Value.
'Peavey's new Vypyr Series modeling amps are packed with so many sounds and features that they offer boom, rather than bang, for the buck,' wrote Chris Gill in the August 2009 issue of Guitar World. 'Although the Vypyr 75 costs little more than ? a boutique fuzz pedal, it provides guitarists with an instant collection of amps, stomp boxes and studio-quality effects.'
The Peavey VYPYR Series dramatically redefines the power and scope of modern guitar amplification. VYPYR amplifiers are based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors that enable highly detailed, accurate modeling as well as vastly enhanced flexibility and features than ever before available in guitar amplification.
Peavey VYPYR Series amplifiers feature 24 amp channel models—clean and distorted channels of 12 popular amps for the first time anywhere—plus 11 editable preamp 'stomp box' effects and 11 editable post-amp 'rack' effects with dual-parameter control, global reverb and global delay. Players can add the optional Peavey Sanpera II foot controller to activate the on-board looper and expand the amp's 12 built-in presets to 400 programmable presets, with up to five simultaneous effects.
'We designed the VYPYR Series to offer the market something completely different,' said Hartley Peavey, Founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics. 'We use both analog circuits and powerful digital signal processors to create highly detailed models, and create overdrive using our patented analog TransTube technology—and even use real tubes in some models. With an unprecedented amount of amp and effect models, Peavey VYPYR amplifiers give guitar players an amazing range of tones and versatility, with accurate models of classic amps and effects.'
Amplifier models included in the VYPYR Series include Peavey 6505, JSX, Triple XXX and Classic Series models, as well as B-Kat, Brit, Plxi, Dlx, Twn, Dzl, K-Stein and Rec models. Preamp stomp-box models include TubeScrm, XR Wild, X Boost, Fuzz, BC Chorus, Analog Phase, Analog Phase, Auto Wah, Squeeze, MOG and Ring Modulator, while rack effect models include Tremolo, Chorus, Envelope Filter, Slap Back, Flanger, Octaver, Phaser, Rotary Speaker, Reverse, Pitch Shifter and Looper.
Music-product retailers from across the U.S. voted the Peavey VYPYR Series their Product of the Year in the annual Music Sound Awards, produced by industry journal Music Sound Retailer. The Peavey VYPYR Series also won the Instrument Amplifier of the Year award in the Music Sound Awards, and the Amplifier Line of the Year award from retailers who voted in Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) magazine's annual survey.
Peavey VYPYR amps are endorsed by hard rock's top guitar players, including Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu of Trivium, Matt Tuck of Bullet For My Valentine and Phil Demmel of Machine Head.
The Peavey VYPYR Series ranges from the practice-size VYPYR 15 and VYPYR 30 combos to mid-size combos such as the VYPYR 75 and VYPYR 100; the VYPYR Tube 60 and VYPYR Tube 120 tube combos; and the recently unveiled VYPYR Tube 120H, a full-size guitar amp head.
