The Peavey Cirrus™ 4 Flame Maple is a neck-through four-string bass built in the Czech Republic, continuing a design that earned Peavey serious respect among professional players when master luthier Mike Powers introduced the original Cirrus in 1997.

Powers built the reputation on two ideas. A neck-through instrument could sound this full while staying this light, and a pickup could be designed to hear the string more clearly rather than just louder. Both are here. The 35-inch scale tightens and extends the low end, the flame maple top over alder balances brightness against midrange warmth, and the VFL humbuckers run through an 18-volt active preamp that lets a player move from articulate to authoritative without ever leaving the instrument’s own voice.

VFL: A Pickup Built for the Way a Bass String Moves

Vertical Flux Loading turns the magnet upright between the pole pieces instead of laying it underneath, extending the magnetic field’s reach and lowering inductance, so the string is read further into its travel and the highs stay open.
