Winter NAMM: Stone Sour Guitarist Josh Rand Designs Signature Peavey Custom Shop Guitar

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Winter NAMM) — Peavey proudly introduces the new JR Special electric guitar, an exclusive Peavey Custom Shop signature model co-designed by guitarist Josh Rand of three-time Grammy-nominated rock powerhouse Stone Sour. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the JR Special will benefit wounded U.S. soldiers via the Wounded Warrior Project.A flattop, basswood electric guitar based on the award-winning Peavey HP Special, the new JR Special is outfitted with a DiMarzio PAF Joe humbucking pickup in the neck position and a DiMarzio X2N humbucker in the bridge position, with the patented Peavey Dual Compression tailpiece and a bolt-on maple neck. Even more striking, however, is the unique artwork: the new official U.S. Army digiflage camouflage pattern with a satin finish, applied using the patented ArtGuitar printing process and the Custom Graphics portal at www.peaveycustomshop.com."When I heard about what Peavey was doing with their new Custom Shop, I asked them to send me a couple of HP Specials, a flat top and a carved top," said Rand. "They sounded great and felt great, and the construction was awesome. My tech and I were impressed, and I started discussing doing a signature model with Peavey. "My signature JR Special is the first model to have a reversed headstock, and its neck dimensions are customized to what is most comfortable for me. I also had it wired for two volume controls, one for the front and one for the back, with a 3-way pickup switch."The inspiration for the guitar's digiflage graphics as well as the charitable initiative came late one night while Rand winded down from a Stone Sour gig on the Come What(ever) May world tour. "It was one o'clock in the morning and a program came on about a soldier who lost both legs from a grenade," he said. "It made me think about how some soldiers who go to war come back changed forever. Simple things that we take for granted are quite a task for someone in that position. "I thought it would be cool to give up part of the profit from my guitar to these guys, and it came together really quickly after that, like it was supposed to be that way. So now we're going to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project." The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) is to raise public awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members to aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. The Peavey Custom Shop (www.peaveycustomshop.com) features a web-based design application that takes you step-by-step through the process of designing Peavey musical instruments to your own specifications. Winner of Adobe Systems' prestigious Site of the Day and Best In Show at Summer 2007 NAMM, it allows you to choose the features on your Peavey guitar, dial in virtually any color and even upload a custom JPG picture or artwork for your custom instrument. The Peavey JR Special guitar will be available from the Peavey Custom Shop in 2008.Features· 25 ½" scale with 22 frets· HP Special FT basswood body· Official U.S. Army digiflage artwork· Bolt-on maple neck and fretboard with reverse headstock· Schaller tuners· Master volume and tone controls and 3-way toggle selector· DiMarzio X2N humbucker bridge· DiMarzio PAF Joe humbucker neck· Adjustable bridge and patented Dual Compression tail piece· Hardshell case and strap locks included· U.S. MSRP $1599.99
