Trivium's 'Shogun' Showcases Wall of Peavey Amplifiers

PEAVEY INT'L. HEADQUARTERS—Armed with its savage new album, Shogun, Trivium has emerged as a visionary force in the modern metal movement.

Recorded with producer Nick Raskulinecz in unfamiliar territory—Sound Kitchen Studios in Nashville, where you're much more likely to find country balladeers than a metal band—Shogun incorporates Japanese and Greek mythological themes and an incisive sense of melody with the band's established command of lashing, dual-guitar riffs and leads.
"We wrote this album exactly the way we all wanted to," says frontman Matt Heafy. "We didn't care what was going to come out. The whole concept behind the record was, 'No limits!'"
Guitarists Heafy and Corey Beaulieu recorded Shogun with their Peavey 6505 Series guitar amps and used the new Peavey VYPYR modeling guitar amps in the studio. Bassist Paolo Gregoletto used his Peavey Tour Series bass amps on the record.
We've been using the Peavey 6505 Plus for the last several years, said Heafy. Having the right tone is great. We've got it and we're stoked.
For more than 15 years, the Peavey 6505 Series has defined the sound of aggressive music. From the fury of Machine Head to the crossover punk of Story Of The Year to the whiplash thrash of Job For A Cowboy—and virtually every artist whose tones have been at the mercy of producers Andy Sneap and Jason Suecof—the Peavey 6505 amp is the blueprint for metal guitar tone.
The new Peavey VYPYR Series dramatically redefines the power and scope of modern guitar amplification. VYPYR modeling amplifiers are loaded with 24 amp channel models—both the clean and distorted channels of 12 popular amps for the first time anywhere—plus 11 editable preamp stomp box effects, 11 editable post-amp rack effects with dual-parameter control and much more.
The Bass Player Editors' Award-winning Tour Series amplifiers feature a highly specialized, nine-band graphic EQ that allows players to define the amp's response curve with ease, plus the patented Kosmos B sub-harmonic generator that creates interesting harmonic textures and enriches the bottom end. Tour Series enclosures are engineered to ease the load for gigging musicians with efficient weight savers like neodymium loudspeaker magnets and ultra-light wood construction.
