Peavey Vypyr 15 Wins MIPA Best Guitar Amp Combo Award

PEAVEY INT'L. HEADQUARTERS — The Peavey Vypyr 15 modeling guitar amplifier won the 2010 MIPA Best Guitar Amp Combo award at the Musikmesse International Press Awards in Frankfurt, Germany, on March 25.

Peavey Electronics founder and CEO Hartley Peavey accepted the MIPA Award, chosen by the votes of more than 100 magazines worldwide, during the annual Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound convention. Peavey also won the MIPA Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award at the event.

"We designed the Vypyr Series to offer the market something completely different," said Peavey. "Our unique combination of patented analog TransTube and digital technologies gives guitar players an amazing range of tones and versatility, with highly accurate models of classic amps and effects. We are honored to accept this international award for the Peavey Vypyr 15."

The Peavey Vypyr Series dramatically redefines the power and scope of modern guitar amplification. Vypyr amplifiers are based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors that enable highly detailed, accurate modeling as well as vastly enhanced flexibility and features than ever before available in guitar amplification.

The Peavey Vypyr 15 amplifier features 24 amp channel models—two channels of 12 popular amps for the first time anywhere—plus 11 editable post-amp "rack" effects with dual-parameter control, global reverb, global delay, chromatic tuner, studio-quality headphone output, tap tempo, MP3/CD/Aux input, 1x8" loudspeaker, and 12 user preset storage locations.

The Peavey Vypyr Series also includes the Vypyr 30, Vypyr 75 and Vypyr 100 combos; the Vypyr Tube 60 and Vypyr Tube 120 tube combos; and the Vypyr Tube 120H, a full-size guitar amp head. At the 2010 Winter NAMM convention, Peavey announced the new Vypyr 30 Head, Vypyr Mini Stack and Nano Vypyr.

The 2010 MIPA joins a collection of other prestigious awards that the Peavey Vypyr Series has won, including Product of the Year and Instrument Amp of the Year from the Music Sound Retailer; Amp Line of the Year two years in a row from MMR; and the Gold Award for Overall Value from Guitar World.

Peavey Vypyr amps are endorsed by hard rock's top guitar players, including Corey Beaulieu of Trivium, Matt Tuck of Bullet For My Valentine and Phil Demmel of Machine Head.
