The Devil Wears Prada Records 'Dead Throne' & Tours With Peavey Amps

Guitarist and songwriter Chris Rubey, the mind behind the grinding metal riffs of The Devil Wears Prada, has used Peavey amplifiers to get his crushing tone since long before they co-headlined Warped Tour, appeared on magazine covers and rocked millions of iPod playlists.

Now with the release of Dead Throne, the bands highly anticipated fourth album, The Devil Wears Prada has become one of heavy musics biggest acts. Working with an outside producer for the first timeAdam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engagethe band has crafted its most aggressive and cohesive work to date.

We always try to one-up ourselves, and that comes with growing as musicians, said Rubey. Adam had tons of good ideas for arrangements. He sped up a number of the songs, cut measures in half, and generally trimmed fat. Usually, this would be something that we wouldnt be into coming from a producer, but with Adam it totally worked for the best. Hes also a guitar player, so he was able to work with me a lot.

Although Rubey has played the original Peavey 6505 amp since the bands early touring days, the new Peavey 6534 Plus has become his main amplifier.

Its pretty much a known fact that the Peavey 6505 is the fearing metal tone, said Rubey. The low end is so unbelievably tight, and it has insane amounts of gain. On this tour Ive been playing the 6534 Plus. I had one shipped to me when we were in the studio, and I liked the warmth and the crunchiness. My whole philosophy is, 'If it aint broke, dont fix it.' I can get everything I need out of these amps.
