Nice clean setup. I haven't seen that Eq in the bottom of your rack in years. I had 3 of them for some time. I believe they are still in service somewhere. With no room for dancers I would have pushed the mains out more away from the stage but thats just me. I still miss my "big ol'" system that I had. Those horns really could put the sound out!

had my pa setup for a recent house party, sorry for the lack of my pretty amp rack, (including 2 ipr3000s, ipr1600, behringer dual 32band, bbe, and dbx xover.) wanted it out of reach..
but im sure it will be on here later.

needless to say, i spent a half hour the next day picking up picturs that had rattled off my walls! we had it BOOMING! the girls liked it anyways...

I had a very busy weekend.
Friday I was a stagehand for Fantasia at the Vonbraun Center where I am an IATSE stagehand. It was the first show of a tour and it took a long time to set it all up and get it right. I even got to run the lights for the 2 opening acts. It was an all day job.

Saturday I was providing a small stage and the sound system for a Church Picnic. Oh my goodness what a lot of good food to eat. It was a fun day and home before Dark

Sunday was a Benefit for War Veterans. Plenty of Bar-B-Que, some great bands and a couple of adult beverages in the cooler made a wonderful day. It was at an amphitheater on top of a mountain with nice cool breezes all day long. And again I was home before dark.

My last 3 helpers were not much help so I have been breaking in another helper and she is a real cutie too. She really wants to learn how to do sound and I've been teaching her everything I can to get her going as quickly as possible. I had her mixing sound on this show while I was standing beside to coach her. She said that she had never had so much fun before.

September 14, 2013 at...believe it or not...Green Acres Farm.

John's playing a Peavey Fury, there's a Classic 30 partially obstructed by my SG on the guitar stand, and the sound guy had lots of Peavey equipment.

This was one of the funnest shows I've done in a long time. It was a Riverboat dinner cruse down the
Tennessee river in Decatur Alabama. I was set up on the upper deck and using Monitor wedges for
the mains, you can see them on the back of the boat near the flag sticking up above the railing. It
was a cruise for doctors from India around the area. Using a 150 watt powered mixer and wireless
mics we did Singing To Tracks for most of the evening starting at dark. A 4 hour cruise that went
upriver for a coupla hours and then back. Temperatures were between 60 & 65 degrees and not so
bad. I'm looking forward to doing sound on this boat again. I thought it was interesting to have such
a Captive audience for this event.

Had show last night that ended up having some peavey gear. Thought I'd post some pictures.
The monitors are some I made with SP2A speaker parts. They sound pretty good for the money. ( the boxes were free , horn included. ) The tops were sp2X powered each with a Bridged cs800s amp. The 800x was for the stage L/R monitors. 1 channel of a PV3800 was used for the close centered PV15 speakers.

Time for the Rainy Outdoor Show Season to begin

I did a stage and sound system for the WEUP Biker Bash at the radio station in North Alabama on Saturday May 17th. My lovely hired help "Erica" helped me out a lot as we setup and had sound running before 8:AM when it started Pouring Rain.

We hung out under the tent with the mixer. The radio station Format is Rap music but I didn't have any to play, so we boogied to the rhythm of the beats from some old school Funk that I had on my computer while it was raining, the venders loved it. The weather cleared up and then did live rap music till 6:PM which was singing to tracks with 2 wireless mics..
WEUPbash2.jpg

We loaded it all up and took it to a club called the "Furniture Factory" and setup sound and half the lights outdoors on the patio for a Southern Rock band. We were setup by 8:30 and sound checked by 9:PM and got started playing at 9:30 just as it started raining. The picture was taken after it poured down rain and the band quit. Then we loaded out in the rain and went home to dry out.

This radio station has a 10000 watt AM transmitter and tower within 200 feet of the stage. In the past I have had trouble with older Peavey and Behringer amps playing the audio from the radio signal. However my 4 IPR-1600 amps performed perfectly quietly for this show.

I've been providing sound systems since the late 60's and last weekend I setup my biggest sound system ever for Jake Clayton and Stephanie Ouayle from the North Alabama area and working out of Nashville. Great music and very enjoyable to work with. The event was an hours drive away from home at a rodeo of sorts, the Northeast Alabama Cutting Horse Show in the AgriBusiness Center. A large arena with a dirt floor and minimal seating on each side. The entertainment was in the middle between the seats playing to the dirt, one side of the seating was Closed and so the audience was mostly in the bleachers on one side and some on the dirt, but not many cause the ladies didn't want to get their shoes dirty.

I just purchased an old Peavey 24x8 monitor console and I was using it for the first time but not very prepared as you can see in the picture. There are not any Racks or Snakes so the EQs are stacked on the table with the mixer and the amps are stacked on the floor under the mixer and a pile of XLR cables connecting it all together. It all worked surprisingly good using 4 Amplified mixes and then another for an in-ear mix.
Rainsville2.jpg
Rainsville2.jpg (61.31 KiB) Viewed 14445 times
I combined both sides of my normal Largest System onto one side to cover the Bleachers where the most of the audience was, four 18 inch, two 15 inch and two RX22 horns. This system is TriAmped and has a total of 2890 watts. It's all Peavey except the Mids, they are Crate Cabinets with Peavey Scorpions in them, It is all powered by the 3 IPR-1600 amps you can see in the rack. My 4th IPR-1600 can be seen above running a coupla monitors.
Rainsville3.jpg
Rainsville3.jpg (71.45 KiB) Viewed 14445 times
For the smaller audience on the dirt I stacked these two Peavey 3020ht cabinets and powered them Full Range with both sides of a CS-800x. Both sides of the PA combined totaled a little less than 4000 watts.
Rainsville4.jpg

All this power and not allowed to use it. We had 15 minutes to do the Line Check and, set the monitors, then Sound Check one song. They had to stop the competition and remove the skittish horses while we did it all. Everything went smoothly though and everybody was happy because they could hear everything.

So eventually it's showtime and it sounds great from the beginning and awesome by the time they were finished. I was mixing at least 100 feet away from the mains and was getting blasted without any DDT light activity. The Kick and Floor toms were pumping well along with the rest of the mix. At one point I turned the Kick up high enough to trigger the DDT lights but it was really too strong to leave it there. I was running Dual Mono and had a separate EQ for each side. Had to remove an EQ from the rack for monitor duty onstage.

Everyone was happy with the sound and got many future shows from this event. The band was awesome and would have been nice to do another set with them. Maybe again soon in another city. It's a good thing this was an indoor show cause it double poured rain during the day.

And . . . it all barely fit on an extended cargo van . . .
