it *was* pretty awesome, wasn't it? Glen using a 12 string for crying out loud!

A couple of days ago, I thought up a phrase that reminded me of "Ghost Riders In The Sky" and proceeded to write a little parody song. So it was really cool you posted this link.

Glen tore up that 12 string! I've never been too big on 12 strings for lead work, but he pulled it off. I saw Roy Clark play 2 or 3 years ago Christmas time in Farmville. He used to do an annual fundraiser for a music scholarship at Longwood. Even though he sat down most of the show, he could still play with passion and had a band that was top notch.

speaking of parocies, check out Pinkard and Bowden's "Ghost chickens in the Sky."

Sorry - that one's by Sean Morey...

Seems I read about a month or two ago that Mr Campbell had reached the stage where he can no longer speak. So very sad. A gentle giant of a man & a true classic, a studio legend.

Yeah, Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. I remember seeing an interview with him and his wife during his last tour and they were talking about him and his disease, and in the middle of it, he asked his wife, "who are we talking about?"

If there's any silver lining to be found, I hope it's that he's unaware of his current condition and has been for some time.

It makes me sad today that back then when I was young and Glen was doing these performances that I passed him off as simply country. God lord he's shredding a 12 string. I was so young, so dumb, so full of well you know.

I mostly knew his music per my age, as a singer who played his songs. I just last night saw clips of a young Glen really doing work. I never knew.
