Downloading off of Youtube, help!

Post by Geneml » Sun Apr 24, 2016 9:13 am

Here is what I want to do;

I am learning some new guitar riffs off of videos on Youtube.

I want to download them, and play them, but I need a good program.

I prefer Open Source for obvious reasons, but if there is a good commercial program that will do the job, I will consider it. Since many of them include "bloatware", etc, unless I can opt-out of such, I'm not interested. Any suggestions?

You don't need to install any program. I've used keepvid.com for other websites, I know that it does work for youtube. You just copy the URL into the keepvid website and choose the format you want to save it in to your PC.

1. Google Riff Station. It's a free dwonload. Download and install.
2. Put this Converter link in your Favorites Bar: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

So now all you do is right click the You tube Vid, copy the URL, Paste it into the Converter link. Convert and download to MP3. Then Drag and drop or point to the MP 3 file from RiffStation

I use savefrom.net for that, but, for some reason, all 1080p videos are now without the sound :(

I believe savefrom.net splits the audio out into a separate (MP3? AAC?) file above 720. You can recombine them with the Haali splitter (free, and included with the K-Lite codec packs), if I recall correctly. But I haven't had any problems with Ummy. Chrome users can employ a Tampermonkey script, as well (I believe that's also an option given by savefrom).

You can try TubeMate YouTube Downloader. I'm not sure if it is available for IOS but for Android you can easily find it here: https://theappsdepot.com/ This app is really easy to use, you just have to look for any video in the search bar of the app and press the green arrow located on the bottom part of the screen. At that moment you can select the video quality you want to download. It normally has many different resolution options adapted to the different Android devices compatible with the application.
