Mid nineties bandit owner here. Known as the blackface or silverface model i believe. Can be found very affordably has a sheffield speaker and takes pedals very well. Also sounds great on its own. Tons of power built rock solid amd loud as hell if needed. Wish someone would make one these days this solid again. Always loved peaveys amps nonetheless.

Never knew this thread was here!

I'm running a mid-late 90s Ultra 112 with Sovtek LPS preamp tubes, Sovtek 6L6WXT output tubes, and a WGS ET90 speaker. Looking to convert it to a head/2x12 cab soon.
Three things about hillbillies - they talk funny, and they can't count!

Ibanez S520EX in green shadow

Peavey Ultra 112 combo, Sovtek LPS preamp tubes, Sovtek WXT+ output tubes, and a brand new WGS ET90 speaker. Oh yeah.

Our small local Hall has backline gear for "Jam Night" players. These amps are perfect for us. After some trial and error, we've enthusiastically settled on:

112 Bandits (2) - Silver Stripe/Transtube
Used mostly by Lead Players. One has original Sheffield, the other has a 1980's Pyle Driver. We generally run them clean and players bring their own pedal boards.

Supreme Transtube 100 Head, with closed back 4x12
Used mostly by Rhythm Players. Closed back 4x12 provides sweet backline. We generally run the amp clean... sometimes with a mild overdrive.

Jam Night players that bring there own little buzz and distortion prone boutique tube amps can't match these Peavey solid-state workhorse tanks in our small reverberant hall.

The local Chicago CraigsList heated up with Peaveys over the last few month; and Peavey Amps seemed as good as an investment as anything, so why not?
Currently own 6 amps:
Solo Series Bandit
Bandit 65
Special 112
Encore 65 (Installed WGS ET-90 Speaker)
Deuce VT (Installed 2 Eminence Legend V128 Speakers)
6505+ 112 (Installed an Eminence Wizard).

First post! I have a 1976 212 combo and it is the real deal!. Weighs a metric ton, has clean that is virtually un-matchable, crunch that cannot be imitated elsewhere for any price, it is louder than satan, and has tone that will make your girlfriend ride home with me! I recently got a VIP 3. I love them both, but I could be convinced to part with the vintage 212 combo, since I do not play live music any more.

I've owned three Peavey Amps in my life:

First year 5150 head (too scooped sounding for my tastes, but I toured with it for years and years after my amp guy did some work on it to get it less scooped sounding) running into a Mesa 4x12 cab.

VTM60 head (year unknown - GREAT amp that was pure perfection) running into a 1981 Marshall cab loaded with blackbacks.

WINDSOR half stack (again, year unknown) - this is what I'm using now...I freaking love it.
Peavey Windsor amp head
Marshall JCM 2000 DSL100 amp head
Marshall JCM 800 1960a cab
Marshall JCM 800 1960b cab
