Favorite speaker for a 6505+ combo?

I've got a Weber V30 clone I'm putting in tomorrow. What's your favorites? What have you tried?

I'm considering buying a used 6505+ 112 and throwing a "real" Celestion Vintage 30 in it. I've seen a few videos that sound like a huge improvement, and my favorite cabs all have V-30s so I feel it would be a good move. I'd probably just keep the Sheff in it if I buy new though, wouldn't want to void the warranty or anything. :/

What is this clone you speak of? The original isn't that expensive.

I bought a new 6505+ combo a few weeks ago and I seriously thought it sounded horrible. No warmth, fizzy sounding, etc... I couldn't believe all the good reviews. I thought about sending it back, which would have been a hassle, but decided to try replacing the speaker. I just received a Celestion G12K-100 today and installed and it makes a huge difference. The amp is much more warm sounding now and the fizz is gone. Huge difference in sound. I'm glad I decided to keep it!

Depends on what sound you are trying to achieve. The Vintage 30 is a very mid-rangy type speaker however I've paired it with a pair of Weber Blue Dog and Silver and it sounded incredible. However the Weber Blue Dog is made to copy the Vox Bulldog and is made for a Vox or Fender clean tone. If you are trying to achieve a MESA metal tone you may want to opt for a higher wattage speaker that doesn't break up so early.

This is my favorite comparison video. The Jensens here really open up the sound.

+1 for the k-100. I use a combo of k-100 & v-30's. But for my iso cab. it's a k-100
"I sold my Fender evh 100 for getting mad at my

I'd go with a Vintage 30 or Veteran 30
