Peavey 6505MH - safe to buy 2017 ?

Post by metallixro » Sat Mar 25, 2017 4:44 pm

Heya people,

I'm looking to buy a Peavey 6505MH because its an awesome amp, however I'm reluctant due to a friends bad experience some one year ago with the amp: basically after ~1 hour it would stop working properly. We looked around various forums, including here we found out it wants uncommon for the 6505MH... btw that amp is still that way, ever after various techs tried to fix it.

Now I assume those early production problems should have been fixed... or is this still a problem for this model ?

Cheers!

I've been playing mine for hours at a time without incident.

There was an issue with overly aggressive protection circuitry. Peavey updated production units and is fixing older amps under warranty.

A buddy of mine has had the same one and he plays for extended periods of time without an issue. Maybe it depends on what you're doing with it that causes the issue.

I've also played and featured a few things on bubbleclips

Yes, Roger Crimm confirmed it over one year ago.

A great majority of the (relatively few) problems so far can be addressed by a simple tweak of the bias. If yours does happen to be shutting down prematurely, you can get it corrected under warranty. We have tested a new part value that corrects this issue if you are experiencing it.
