Replacement knobs for teal-stripe Peavey amplifiers
Replacement knobs for teal-stripe Peavey amplifiers
Hi all, longtime Peavey fan and first-time poster here. Does anyone know where I might find replacement knobs for an early-90s teal-stripe Peavey amplifier? I have an Express 112 and a KB-60 that use identical knobs, and as far as I can tell, nearly all teal-stripe Peavey amps use the same grey pointer knobs.
The Peavey parts department says they're out of the original knobs, and out of the replacements, and the closest thing they could sell me would be a chickenhead knob that might cover up the numbers and would obviously look pretty out of place.
There's a coral pointer knob on a few parts sites that looks vaguely similar - https://www.amazon.com/Peavey-Pea-6033- ... B00CLXJGUO - and Magic Parts had a grey version listed on their site but after I placed the order they called to say it's out of stock. Other parts suppliers have told me the same thing as Peavey - no originals and no replacements available.
I'm hoping there's a source out there and I'm just not using the right search terms. It seems a little weird that there would just be zero options for a part that was so widely used at one time.

What do the shafts look like?
Re: Replacement knobs for teal-stripe Peavey amplifiers
The shafts are 3/16" knurled, to the best of my knowledge. They're round, not half moon, and the knobs are push-on. These are the pots: http://shop.magicparts.com/peavey-parts/PV71190510TimmyV wrote:What do the shafts look like?

You can often find them on ebay pretty cheap.
I got a bag-o-spares of 3/16" knobs. How many you need?

I could use 3 if they look like these: http://www.smpartizan.com/wp-content/up ... 24x679.jpgScottMarlowe wrote:You can often find them on ebay pretty cheap.

Ouch, yeah looks like the shaft broke off. If you got three like that you need new pots. PV customer service should have the pots available or know where to get them.

I found that photo online as an example of the type of knobs I'm looking for. It's not a photo of my amp. My pots and shafts are intact and functional; I'm just looking for some knobs.

Re: Replacement knobs for teal-stripe Peavey amplifiers
Apparently that exact style seems a little harder to come by. Mine all look like this:
Re: Replacement knobs for teal-stripe Peavey amplifiers
A few years back I needed a similar knob for an amp but Peavey was out. I watched eBay and cruised the pawn shops. I found a bad amp in a pawn shop and made them an offer. They took it. I was able to salvage the knobs I needed.
I've also bought replacement knobs from Peavey for a mixer board that fit but were different. I just replaced all the same knobs and it looked like it came from the factory that way.
Good luck in your hunt!

I may have some, I think they are all gray tipped. Let me look and I'll get back to you in a day or two...

These grey ones are from page 2, of the link OP posted; http://shop.magicparts.com/peavey-parts/PV70902022nillie wrote:The shafts are 3/16" knurled, to the best of my knowledge. Maybe they would work.
Re: Replacement knobs for teal-stripe Peavey amplifiers
Thanks, I've been wondering about whether the mixer knobs would be the same size.

Those are the ones I originally ordered, but they called to say they're out of stock. Guess they haven't updated their site.tele twister wrote:
