Speaker replacement suggestions for Peavey Bravo
Speaker replacement suggestions for Peavey Bravo
Picked up a used bravo a few months ago for a nice "grab and go" amp that was capable of nice cleans and hi gain tones. I'm not sure what speaker originally came in these amps (the one in there looks like a no name replacement). Looking to upgrade the speaker and was hoping for some good suggestions. Thanks in advance!

My personal favorite 12" speaker is the Jensen Electric Lightning.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody ever tried pairing the Bravo with an "American" voiced speaker, like an alnico Jensen or something?

The EL I mentioned is a Jensen American voiced Alnico speaker. I haven't put one into a Bravo as I don't own one, but I HAVE put a pair into my Classic 50 and they are now my favorite speakerdumb wrote:Just out of curiosity, has anybody ever tried pairing the Bravo with an "American" voiced speaker, like an alnico Jensen or something?

The EL is ceramic, and more importantly it has a more modern voicing than the alnico speakers (or their ceramic counterparts, the C12R/C12Q etc).ScottMarlowe wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2017 3:22 pmThe EL I mentioned is a Jensen American voiced Alnico speaker. That being said, the EL is probably a more suitable fit for the Bravo!

Sorry I was confusing it with the Alnico brothers in the Jet series. Yeah it works really well with more modern amps like the bravo or Classic 50 etc. I've also liked the demos I've heard with 6505s and such.
