I just picked up an Ultra and the light on the front is always "orange". Isnt it supposed to change to from "green" to "red"?
I dont have a pedal to make it orange, but it just stays in that mode or channel.
Also the half and full power dont make any difference. Ive put all new tubes in this thing.
Peavey Ultra Plus channels
Re: Peavey Ultra Plus channels
Half and full power will not be half as loud, it is more about headroom when pushing it.
As far as I know, the color only changes with the footswitch. Plus you only get two of the three channels without the footswitch.

Ive read that about the footswitch, but even without it shouldnt I go from green to red?
Mine just stays an orange color regardless

The colors on the logo panel only change when using the footswitch.

What are the switches used in the pedals? ive used spst and spdt with no luck. The channels switch but then switch right back.
Re: Peavey Ultra Plus channels
The two terminal ones are SPST, the three terminal ones are SPDT. Any six legged ones are DPDT.
They must be click on/click off types, not momentary.
Make sure they are all working, they open and close alternately, and no contacts are stuck together. They can be stuck together inside even though the button clicks up and down.
Also, any footswitch can develop shorts in the wiring inside the DIN plug or inside the cable (usually right where it leaves the pedal body).

Re: Peavey Ultra Plus channels
Im building my own 3 button and am using the 9 leg ones because I have a ton of them.
I wish there was a wiring diagram that was better labeled other than the one everyone has online.

Re: Peavey Ultra Plus channels
This thing is all crazy.
When I switch to clean, the logo is orange
When I go to crunch or ultra it turns green
if its clean(orange) and ultra is activated (before switch is pushed), it turns red, but then green once the button is activated.
This doesnt match what ive seen on the interweb.
