Hi folks,
I have a usa red stripe bandit that I love. That being said I also have chance to get a pair of 10 inch 16 ohm Celestion greenbacks in a trade deal.I'm wondering if these 2 10's can be used in my peavey bandit?
I know very little about replaceing speakers so this could be a stupid question,if so is there a good replacement speaker you would suggest?
Lastly I've heard that changing speakers can be a good way to improve your amps tone which is highly over looked by a lot of players?
Would appreciate any info anyone could give me concerning this, thanks ,Cheers.

STOP Right Where U B....! * ! * !
Build an extension cabinet rather than even think about replacing on-board speaker.
Bandit works GREAT with addition of extension cabinet.

hey Classic, thanks for the reply,to be honest I don't really want to carry around another cabinet.
Re: bandit speaker replacement
I replaced the speaker in mine with an Eminence V128 and couldn't be happier. Smoother, louder and not as harsh as the Sheffield in the open backed combo. I have the matching 112 extension cab (closed back) with the Sheffield and together they really sound great.

I've learned to not change things that I love, but rather add to themG-bo wrote:Hi folks,

I agree that there is no reason to change out an original 12" speaker for a 10". Build a separate cab for them. Two 10" speakers sound different than one 12". You may like it or you may not. I personally like my Sheffields. I just bought one to replace the aging Eminence square magnet speaker in my Pacer. I really like the sound of the old speaker at lower volumes but it gets ratty sounding if you crank the volume up too much. Might have a little voice coil rub.
Trade the 10's for another 8 ohm 12 that you like. That would let you experiment or add on. I think Sheffields pair up with other speakers quite well.

The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know.

+1 on the extension cab, I'd wager that once you hear the difference, it will be worth the effort to lug around..

Re: bandit speaker replacement
i order to use the 2-10s, you'd need to make a completely new baffle board and if the 10's are both 8ohm, you could wire them for 4 and get the full 100 watts. Or you could use a single 10" which would require making a tone ring that is 12" OD and 10" ID and NOT mod the baffle board. this wouldnt sound as big at the 12 you currently have. Best bet is either buy a 12" replacement or put the 2 10s in a separate cab.

Re: bandit speaker replacement
I made a 3x8 baffle for my Bandit and had no extra room at all . I kinda doubt you're gonna be able to squeeze 2/10s in there. But it would be cool

Re: bandit speaker replacement
You could also look for an empty combo cab already made for 2x10 and migrate the bandit to that. I mean the Delta Blues 2x10 is essentially the same thing cabinet wise. Rawcabs on ebay run $170 or so. I bet you could find a dead combo amp with blown speaker or amp for under $100.

Sorry half my brain ran away there. But my main point is just look at a new cabinet if you like the Bandit otherwise.
