Valveking troubles

Post by dan001 » Sat May 20, 2017 9:15 pm

Can anyone help with this?

I have an older Valveking 100watt head.
I have 2 issues with it:

1: The reverb is VERY noisy when set above 2 or 3.

2:The bright switch on the clean channel is way too bright to the point of
sounding "brittle" or "shrill." It's basically unusable.
Anyone have any solutions to this?

Thanks.

The bright switch is a simple fix for a qualified tech. Most bright switch caps are set to create a dramatic effect. You can certainly change that cap for less highs. As far as the reverb noise, what type of noise are you talking about? Crackling? Hum?

Thanks for responding.
I am able to change the bright switch cap- just need to know which one and what value to change it to.
Can't find a schematic.
As for the reverb it's a hum/fizz type of noise, if that makes sense.

have you tried contacting peavey for the schematic?
For questions concerning product operation, support, and warranty:

I do not have the schematic, but once you locate one, look for the cap attached to the bright switch. If its a 120pf (value used for example only) change it to a 100pf. if thats still too bright, go lower value.

As for the reverb hum, try moving the cables and see if the hum goes away. If its a tank reverb, clean all connectors and verify they are fully connected
