1980s Bandit 112 noise

Post by FredJr » Sun May 21, 2017 9:26 am

Hi all - just got my Bandit back from long term storage. Lots of static from what I assume is lack of use. Can I use spray contact cleaner to clean this up? Would I be correct in assuming I could remove the amp chassis and spray the pot directly from the top? Is thee a better technique? Thanks all. Haven't been here in a while but my old Bandit brought me back!

The best way to clean pots is to use the long thin applicator pipe that comes with DeOxit or Servisol. Once this has been connected to the can's nozzle you can squirt the fluid directly into the gap on the pot's cover where the three legs protrude.
Removal of amp electronics / chassis from cab is essential to be able to do this.
I have bent the end of an applicator pipe with a cigarette lighter flame so that the resulting angle allows me to aim right into the hole as described above.
Turn pot back and forth about 10 times and allow to dry before use.

DO NOT USE WD 40 - DeOxit or Servisol are the best for the job.
