Transtube Supreme (Silver Stripe)

Post by OldSoul » Tue May 23, 2017 10:13 am

I found one of these on CL for 120 bucks..... planning to try it out sometime tomorrow. I haven't found a lot of information on these heads, except the fact that they seem to be a head version of the Bandit..... and if that's the case, then this will be perfect.

Does anyone have any experience with these heads? Any pros or cons?

It is a Bandit in head form. I had one as my main amp for years after playing a Bandit for a couple years.

How are you planning to use it? I ran mine with pedals, rarely using the lead channel. It's a good work horse.
Present:

Special 212, Backstage

Past:

Raptor 1, Predator International Series, Predator Plus EXP, Raptor Plus EXP, Rock Master preamp, Special 212 (head), 412MS, TNT 115S, Rage 158, Supreme TT, XXX, XXX 412, Ultra Plus, XXL, JSX, Transformer 112

Thanks for responding! I plan to run mine through a 412 or 212 cab Using the clean channel also. Plus a few dirt pedals. If it can provide a warm sound like the bandit, then that's perfect!

OldSoul:
Supreme controls are like a Bandit, but in Reverse order from right to left. And it's more powerful. Takes pedals well. You're going to love it on a 4x12 or 2x12.

There is a difference between the Supreme & Bandit. The Supreme is a 100 watt head, the Bandit is an 80 watt head. Not that you can tell the difference when they are both cranked but they do have different power ratings.

Now I have made my own head out of a SS Bandit and added 2U rack spaces:

The chassis has since been put back into the combo 112 cabinet.

Thanks everyone for the responses! This head is kickin'! It's amazing how certain Peavey pieces are VERY underrated! The cleans on this booger are sweeeet!

ive convinced several of my tube snob friends on the joy of a bulletproof workhorse like the bandits and their ilk.
Most have bought one as a backup rig to throw in the truck for when the tube head goes wonky on a gig. Funny thing is many have made the bandit the go-to rig for smaller gigs instead of carting out the half stack.

This is my current set up. Found a 212 Marshall cab for a good price. I hated the Celestion 7080s in it, so I replaced them some old school Scorpions, and maaaaaaaaan......what a difference!!!! I love it. Plus the oversized box gives it a lot of depth.

I'll bet that sounds great with a pair of Scorps in there. I'll take your word for it
But it sure would be nice if those beautiful, silvery rims were visible through the grill cloth.

BTW, have you thought about replacing that nasty Ramshall logo with a nice Peavey one?

(Yeah OldSoul, it took me a couple of tries to flip it to proper)
