I knew about the issues with peavey using proprietary cables for their footswitches long before I bought my 6505+, so I'm not here to gripe about that.
I'm here to tell you the solution I found for my 6505+ and my need for midi control.
Firstly I found the cable needed from btpa.com
I won't lie, my cable cost me $90 Canadian.
Pretty damn expensive. On the plus side, the cable is well built and has the features I need. I opted for the dual TRS to control the fx loop, crunch and lead channel independently. They have a good selection of cables and options for lots of amps and a good chunk of peavey ones.
The relay switcher took me the longest to find. I was NOT going to pay for some of the crazy priced midi relay controls.
The relay switcher I found was from NUXefx.com
The PMS-2
I got this for less than the price of the cable, new in box from a reputable seller on eBay. It's a 6 channel switch.
The instructions are TERRIBLE and the momentary latching doesn't work. The company admitted as much, and there's no way to fix it.
I don't use mometary latching and probably never will so no deal breaker for me, might be for you. I found another one of similar specs but was 4 switches and used the opposite tip polarity of normal pedal supplies and was $100 more expensive.
I got myself a midi mouse from tech21 for my switching needs. Small, uses 9v power from my pedals and I can upgrade if needed!
I have to say after sifting through the manual for the PMS-2 I was able to get it working with my setup in 10 minutes and it was a breeze to program.
In total I spent around $90 for the cable, $70 for the switcher and $120 for the midi mouse.
Hope this helps anyone who is thinking about doing this.
