Bandit 112 - Main speaker not turning itself off while the external headphone input is being used

This forum is for talking about all kinds of Peavey guitar amplifiers.

In general, getting away with something doesn't make it a good idea.

Plugging headphones into a speaker jack will usually "work", but the only thing preventing the amp from destroying the phones is being careful not to turn the volume up. Same with plugging speaker outputs into sound cards, if you turn it up far enough, the voltage exceeds the limits of the card.

Most headphones and cards etc have 600ohm or higher impedance inputs (headphones often 220 or so and higher). So it's unlikely you'll blow them up. BUT you do have issues with tube amps having their outputs put into high impedance inputs since it can reflect back and blow out the amp.

On a Bandit no need to worry about that.

Well yes, that's the nice of using only transistor technology at least

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Peavey Envoy. Headphone out, very similar dirt and crunchy cleans with spring reverb in the old red stripes. Digital now? Anyway, small, cheapish, good sounding dirt pedal with a decent little amp built in. If you find yourself plugging the headphone out into a PA I wouldn't blame ya. Keep in the trunk of your car in a trash bag just in case etc.

Transistor technology works great.
