6505 Cab HELP
So I got a really amazing deal on a 6505 plus and 412 cab but I feel maybe there are some issues with the cab (maybe not such a good deal after all lol). The head is amazing no complaints at all but when I run it through the 6505 cab it's really harsh on the brights (which I expect this head to be) but there is no low end response from this cab palm mutes sound none existent and even after you crank it still not very much bass response. I run it through an old beat to **** behringer cab and everything comes to life. I feel like a 900 cab should not be shown up by a behringer. Am I just being stupid? Is there something wrong with my cab or do I just enjoy the the sound of pure worn out crap?
Re: 6505 Cab HELP
Plug a cord into the cab - no amp. At the other end of that cord, touch the plug tip to one terminal of a 9v battery. Now lower the shaft of the plug to touch the other terminal. You should hear a pop or thump as you touch. But look close at the speaker cones. They should move either in or out a little ways and stay ther as long as the battery is touching the plug. The direction depends on which way you hold the battery.
The purpose of this is to check phase. It is extremely important that all four speakers move the same direction. If one or more moves the opposite direction from the others, you have a simple wiring problem in the cab. ALso, if one or two of the cones do not move a tall, you either have a wiring problem or a dead speaker.
