Best Enclosure

Post by KingLavert20 » Mon Apr 10, 2017 5:16 pm

I am a beginning bass player and I have always been around Peavey products and I love them. Question I have is which cabinet would be better for me to use. 4 10s or 1516?

Welcome to the low down world. A subjective question you have posed. Lots of variables like, what head are you using? The rest you have to let your ears, likes and dislikes, guide your decision. Good luck. :)
you can't have too much bass

That isn't a fair question, like asking me whether you should order steak or lobster at dinner.

Cabs all sound different, and you should really just play through them and see what you like. it doesn;t matter a whit which ones I prefer myself.

Different speaker combinations sound different - 15s don't sound like 10s. But even in one size. I like a good 4x10 cab, but different models and different brands of those sound different. You need to try them out.

SOund is one thing, but there is also the practical, which ones fit better into your car, or however you move them? How about space on stage? Does it matter if one is wider? Can you lift them all?

Sorry for the late late post lol. But I have a truck so either or will fit in the truck. I have bed cover so I'm not worried about it getting damaged by the weather

Like was said above, there is no easy answer to your question. Everyone has their own preferences and style, so what works for me may stink for you.

That said, let me answer from a sound-guy perspective. The rigs which consistently sound good on stage and in the mix in my experience are, in order of preference:
- A quality 4x10
- A 2x12 cab or two 1x12 cabs
- A quality 1x15

If *I* were choosing a Peavey bass cab to go with a Minimax, I would probably go with a PVH212, but that's just my opinion, man. :D :D :D
